i am still at work

still. the phones are getting installed today. and there is no way I thought it would take 4+ hours. I am supposed to be at home making cookies and muffins and packing for camping tomorrow and going to the library to get some appropriate camping books. But I am getting lots of non-work done. Like blog-surfing and CHA snooping.

I must have this sticker set because of one and only one thing. The monster at the top wearing roller skates saying "That's How I Roll". Dude!

I bought a new bike helmet last night. It is beautiful...shiny white with a neon green swirly flourish across the top. The scrapbooker within me picked that one. Plus, it was the last one so I got 15% off! PLUS, because my husband loves me and knows what a bike-kook I am, Russ asked the bike-guy where all the cool "cruising" bikes were and he showed us and I am in heaven! Russ made me sit on a particularily wonderful black and orange one! Now all my savings are going towards the purchase of a new and fabby bike (maybe next summer...)

I finally bought something from RVA. The craft kit that comes with the underwear notebook. I think I am going to share the love, so check back in a couple of weeks for more on that! I really wanted to buy a bunch of stuff from Etsy today...I had a whole cart full of labels...but I remembered my brilliant idea from last week and have decided to save my money to buy something bigger and better (like a bike...or a big 30th b-day party...). I am semi-very proud of myself today.

I can't believe I am still at work. I am STARVING...didn't bring a lunch cause I thought I would be home eating buns and hummus by now! I also wanted to put together a little mini journal thing for this weekend camping. Oh well. I'll just have to make due...it's not like I'm going to have pamphlets to pick up and maps and tourist brochures. We are out in the middle of nowhere, literally. I'll just try and keep my little journal up-to-date and then put something together when I get home. I also haven't finished my TOTW for this week, but I have something in mind so I'm not too worried. One moment I am bored and life is slow and pleasant and the next moment I am going crazy from all the things I have committed myself to do.
All this speeding up and slowing down is bad for my mileage.
2:29pm:
k...i have read all my blogs.
checked out numerous new product posts from CHA
eaten two granola bars far too quickly
I am still here and my day is disappearing in front of my very eyes
I want to see the sun and hug my Lucas and eat real food
I am freezing cold and have to go pee
but it's not over yet...my day that is
the phones in one of the other offices aren't working
so now he has to fix them
hoorah
i hope he doesn't have to train me on anything
i might just have a temper tantrum and tell him to leave me alone
am signing off here, so i can be ready at a moment's notice to be off

hello again...

I've been having fun with this site this morning...as you can see! I've never actually seen the show Mad Men, but it's super fun to make yourself into a 50s cartoon character!!

And Russel... aren't we a cute couple!? Elsie's of her and Jeremy are very adorable...this style suits them so much more!

Not much going on this morning, as per usual. So I thought I would bore you all with some more blogging! Russ rented Step Brothers last night. oh my. oh my. oh my. I think I am stupider after watching it. Lost a couple of brain cells with that one.

Love her journals...right here. just right. just lovely. am going to be busy tonight doing camping related packing and laundry, so I won't be doing any journaling. I still have to post stuff on Etsy...talk about leaving everything to the last minute. Russel has been very accomodating of my slow-to-get-on-the-boat attitude this week. He has been helping Lucas get to bed, and doing the laundry (which I've noticed has become more his thing than mine), and not getting a normal dinner because I don't feel like cooking, and he has been in good spirits about everything. I love him!

Yummy Bam Pop art prints! Woot and what not!

**********LUNCH BREAK*********

Earlier today Dr. P from next door told me that seeing me with a flower in my hair reminded him of a Beatles song, but he couldn't remember which one. It's "The Lovely Linda". I also found three other songs with the same lyric that are quite lovely and I will have to use them in my journals. Google is wonderful. I think this one is my favourite: "someone told me there's a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair." from Led Zeppelin's "Going to California". I don't know the song, but I might have a listen now.

This makes me happy today. Such lovely works of art. Such colour and wonder. I would post one here, but it's a GIF and that just doesn't work for me. Harumph.
Girls names that I love: Ruby, Eleanor, Jane, Evelyn, Adele
Girls names that I don't love: anything that has a boy's name in it. I think it's mainly because when shortened they become boy's names. If I ever have a girl, she's going to be a girl through and through. And have a beautiful, strong name to accompany her through life.

Two new blogs for good reading...
#1. Taryn
The Torchwood episode last night was excellent. It's a great X-Files type show, without all the pompous BS (not that I don't love X-Files, cause I totally do...). I think I finally fixed the recording problem I was having, so hopefully my box starts picking up all the episode, regardless of the channel they are on. The one last night was from the first season a couple of years ago. It is very funny to see how much people can change in two years... I guess it's the same in real life too, we just maybe don't notice it as much.
Sorry about all the Torchwood talk, but it's been a long time since I fell in love with a tv series like I have with this one. And don't ask me why. The mini-series was so amazing, and the old seasons have a little bit of an edge to them with some raunchy bits but a good story too.
gosh. today has been so boring. even more so than yesterday, if that's even possible.
I made a make-work project for myself today. hooray.
I got to go for a little field trip to the post office down the street. It was nice to be out in the sunshine for a moment. I kind of spaced out waiting for a light and the guy beside me gave me a funny look. You can tell I don't get out much.
oh my...I'm going now. later...
(funny thought...this post takes me all day to write, bits and pieces here and there, but it only takes about 40 seconds to read...hmmm)

hello world, it's me Lisa

Hidee-ho! And how are y'all doing this fine morning? I am well thanks. Slept in this morning, boy howdy! Gave myself a whole 15 minutes to get dressed and out the door with the boys in tow.

Watched 27 Dresses last night...yummy James Marsden. That was a good show, very funny and lovely. I could watch it again. I'm always the last person to see any romantic comedy. Russ won't go to them in the theatre with me, and he surely won't rent one and watch it with me. So the only chance I get is once it comes out on tv (in a million years) Tonight maybe I'll watch Little Miss Sunshine, which we have seen and is so hilarious!!

My day in pictures.
July 27, 2009

Lucas & I wandered over to the Sev after work to get a Slurpee for him and a Lipton green tea for me. He is a very slow walker to begin with, but the heat slows him down even more. So it takes forever to walk the short walk across the field, but he's a real trooper and doesn't complain!

I found some wood grain contact paper, so expect my next batch of fun mail to include this in some way or another. Funny story: Kara found some last night as well and bought it cause she thought of me...loves!

This represents me working downtown. You can't actually see my building in this picture...it's tall but not tall enough!

Yummy James Marsden. Any of y'all remember the TV show "Second Noah" from back in the day. It only lasted one season, but it was a good show. And he was in it, as yummy as ever!

Found Torchwood on a different channel last night, so I set it up to "tape" on any and all channels. We'll see how that works. I {heart} tv shows from the UK because the people in them are beautiful, but in a really normal way. They are just real, and it is lovely!

We went shopping for some camping stuff, nothing critically important, just looking. That new-ish Campers Village on the south side is pretty rad!

And on to other things...ummm. My Etsy stuff is being "Showcased" on the 30th. I've got to remember to post the remaining iPod pockets and maybe a headband or two. I'm not sure if the whole Etsy shop thing is for me. It's fun to post things, but it all costs money and if I don't sell anything that's money that just disappeared into the ether. 20 cents here and there doesn't make much of a difference, but still. I might just start giving things away, or sell it through my blog. No user fees there! The crafty world is very flooded with stuff, all unique and lovely, but there is a lot out there for people to choose from. Plus not everyone has room in their budget right now for lovely yet useless things! Oh well! It's still fun just to make stuff, forget the selling it part! I really like all of my feltie pockets, and headbands, and little books, and I LOVE making them. So I'll just keep at it until I find something else to focus my attention on!

I am really into mini books and zines and illustrations. This shop has caught my eye, and I think I will be making a purchase any day now. I am a huge fan of pen drawings. That is my medium of choice when it comes right down to it. Maybe I'll post some of the drawrings I have done lately. I was a prolific illustrator in high school, but most of my drawings stayed there, and I have been kicking myself for that ever since.

Red Velvet Art has a bunch of fabby new stuff. A craft kit with drawings of cameras and casette tapes in all colours and sizes (pictured below). Very lovely. And an amazing journal made from a vintage photo album. I have an old insurance ledger book that I bought from Value Village and I think I now know how I'm going to finish it!

Found this on Etsy today. Very rad.

Im currently reading Emma on my iPod. This is a surprisingly easy way to read books...though you would never think it! There are lots of gadgets you can buy with the sole purpose of downloading and reading books and magazines. Those are pricey little gadgets, but also very fun. But I like the feel of a book in my hands and would take that over an electronic version anyday!

Will be done here soon. Not like I did much work today. Mostly just blogging and surfing with some work thrown in for good measure when someone was looking. Am headed home to put together more camping stuff and maybe finally get Lucas on his bike again, the little booger!

Monday Quickie

I am so not terribly excited for new CHA stuff to come. It just doesn't interest me this year as it has for previous shows. I am excited to see the new Hambly...mostly just the doilies. If you can even imagine this, colourful stickers just aren't my thing.

I am sending out some fun mail this week. So keep your eyes on your mailboxes. I made a bunch of cute little simple-simple minis on Saturday that I shared with Chan, Lindsay and Kara. They loved them, so now I must make more and share them with the world.

I took no pictures this weekend. Lucas & I played at the park in the morning yesterday, then just hung out inside where it was cool. Dinner at Dad's. Last Sunday dinner for my brother who is moving to Victoria and I am very sad & I don't like it. Russ went to the Indy for most of the day.

Saturday was my last Saturday at TM. It was a quiet day. I will miss it, mostly just because of Lindsay. I will miss Lindsay. She bought me my fave Starbucks frap as a going away present. Thanks miss. Your hair looks amazing, by the way.

Am done at work right away. this was a short post, just to say hello. I did a bunch of journaling on Sunday both "art" and "regular"...it is so nice to clear my head in a place where I don't have to answer to anyone and that no one will ever see. Very nice.

strange...today I don't feel like exclamation points. melancholy and the infinite sadness.

today happy=Torchwood repeats starting on Tuesdays & magnetic chalkboard paint.

Etsy Update

a little make-you-own mini book. I had lots of fun making the example for this kit...except I forgot about how the book would go together once complete, so all the pages are in the wrong order! HA! It's only $3...you should check it out!
I wasn't productive at all last night. Lucas got a bath. I finished Harry Potter and watched Day Two of Torchwood. Then Russ & I watched Night at the Museum.

No dishes. No Etsy. No embroidery. No scrapping. No art. No journaling. No writing. Boo.

Russ is golfing this afternoon, so maybe I'll at least get the dishes done tonight. If only Lucas would stick around to help me. He pulled out all of his Thomas trains the other day...that's how I know he missed being at home.

We have been doing "Puppet Shows" before bed. Really all that means is I walk his stuffed animals around and talk in funny voices. The first night he just squealed and jumped on the bed. The next night he was much better and actually made his Baby Kitty talk. Last night he was being a booger so no puppet show, but he did want to sleep with all of his stuffed animals (that's three puppies, two kitties, a baby, two dolphins, a car, Wooly Bully, the Bam Pop robot, and a couple of bunnies). He did put the dinosaur back.

Things I love on Etsy today:
Typewriter

I Heart my Bike

Silver Molar

Portfolio Kit

French Toast

Eco Cuff

Jackalope

Everytime I want to buy something on Etsy I have to think about the real stuff for my house, like laminate floors, my fire place gone, more paint. I should start putting money aside in the dollar value of my Etsy wish list. $15 for a print, $20 for a cuff. And see how it adds up and then use that money towards something big for the house! Good Idea Lisa! Thanks Lisa.

Blog Makeover...in the works? Maybe...with a little help: Shabby Blogs (why does Lisa like this option? Because it's free I tell you, FREE!!). I still need to do up some sort of banner for the Etsy site. I can't find the cute doodle I did ages ago that I was going to use for this. Missing along with it is a ratty old folder and all my very important work notes. At least they're all lost inthe same place, so hopefully I'll have better luck finding them.

Anybody know anything about putting legs on things you bought at IKEA that didn't originally come with legs? Am I going to have to drill some extra holes in the bottoms of my very lovely Expedit shelves? Maybe I will have to make a trip to IKEA tonight to figure it out. My sanity depends on getting these shelves up and organized and stuff off my DR table. Argh.

The lady I am covering for at work comes back tomorrow. I AM SO HAPPY I COULD DO A LITTLE DANCE! There has been too much on my plate for too long. I'm really not used to having so much responsibility. It's kind of hard to handle. I have left a tonne of stuff for her, stuff I just don't know what to do with. She's going to be busy tomorrow! But I hope she leaves the hard stuff for Monday!

I'm done at TM (sort of) on Saturday. It will be my last Saturday shift, so come and visit! I'll still be doing Techneeks for the Blog and classes and kits, and covering shifts. Truth be told, I'm a little sad! I loved my Saturdays at TM, but I know I will love Saturdays with my boys even more!

It's almost lunch time here. I'll probably just sign off here and get some more work done before I head out. Maybe I'll head home early today...I have to take the bus cause Russ drove me to work. But it shouldn't be too bad...I brought a book and hopefully I have my headphones so I can listen to the iPod and ignore the crazy people.

P.S. #1. Torchwood was totally awesome last night! Totally!

#2. To my next resume I am going to add "detective" to my skill set

#3. Where has summer gone? July is almost over & I haven't had people over for a BBQ, which was totally on my summer to-do list. Dangit!

I've got no strings to hold me down

to make me fret to make me frown. I had strings, but now I'm free. There are no strings on me!

I heard that song in it's entirety on "40s on 4" yesterday. Super!

Hello to my new followers...Wow...new followers. How Exciting! Now if only all my other friends would start following me. Harumph!

A couple of things that are bugging me today: It is damn impossible to find anything in a newspaper online. And you have to pay to read a full obituary.

*************LUNCH BREAK***************

Am actually busy up front today. Lots of filing. And letters to send. Woot. Messenger is not working...the maintenance that they did on Friday mucked it all up. Oh well. Maybe I'll gt Russ to do some tech support for me this Friday. He's so wonderful, helping me solve all my minor computer issues! Helps having a smart hubby!!

**************

Found this blog today: Running With Scissors and it seems familiar, so maybe I posted about it ages ago. Hmmm? Anyhoo, this page caught my eye...

and I quite enjoy it. the layering. and the doodles. and the polaroid (yum). Making me feel a little more inspired to do some journaling tonight.
She also posted this picture. I love globes. Love them. And this pic is just so funny!

**************

I have been very uninspired by my closet lately. Very. But I don't want to just go out and buy a bunch new stuff, because that would just be silly. Am going to try our some crazy new looks I think, just to get the ball rolling. So don't make fun of me...please.

************

Am very much looking foward to the Mother Mother Sonic Session on Thursday! Very Very.

*************

Watched Part One of the Torchwood Mini-Series last night. I {heart} that show. It is very random and I missed like 98% of all the other episodes, and they killed off a bunch of the cast (I'm assuming that's why they're not around anymore) but they kept the most handsome, never aging, can't be killed, gay Captain Harkness. Lots of aliens, and time travel, and alternate realities and such.

Torchwood is kind of like Dr. Who, but they don't travel to the weird things...the weird things come to them. And I found some websites that review all five episodes in the series, and there are some spoilers and I can't decide if I want to read them (cause I really want to know what happens) or wait to watch the show (which I should do, cause it's only a couple of days wait)

****************

I learned the other day that Russ doesn't like gum. Also, that he doesn't like movies about werewolves and vampires and stuff. Not horror movies (I hate horror movies), just fantasy movies. He doesn't like dragons, elves and dwarves much either, so I apologise to any of those reading my blog. It's not personal... We rented a BluRay the other night, and he didn't want to get the latest Underworld installment. I can't remember what we rented instead (it was that good...)

******************

K. I'm going to download some Torchwood wallpaper. send some more letters. then head home. I really want to be productive tonight and post my little Mini Kit. We'll see. And maybe do something with the writing prompts on this blog.

later (hey, later can become the word alter if you adjust some letters there. hmmm. I must be packed pretty dense if I just noticed that. but it will become an art journal layout now that I have...)

Monday, July 20, 2009

hello super friends

how was your weekend? Mine was awesome!!

I got a totally rad "mini-book-blah-blah-bee-doo" done on Saturday night after I got home from the "movie". The kit is going to be up for sale on Etsy this week. I have a Showcase scheduled for July 30th, and I want the store to be nice and full so maybe one of us will sell something!!

The craft fair was kind of a let down...none of those groups I posted about were even there! What the *&)$# is the point of the website then, if only to entice us with things we can't have! ARGH!! But, I did score some sweet items, and we went browsing down Whyte to kill some time, which I never get to do, and I bought a super fun t-shirt. And Laurie's daughter and god-daughter are super cool! WOOHOO!

******************

Just went down to get some lunch from Tims and in the lobby of our building someone whistled at me...like, loud and all. Umm...thanks?? I'm wearing my new Army & Navy shirt that I guess is a bit more revealing than I realized!

*******************

Russ & I ended up going to Famosa's in Terwillegar for dinner on Friday night. My cousin Shaun is co-owner so we got free dessert! Yippee! And their pizza is super good, and they are licensed! and they have lots of yummy desserts! So you should go!

We went to Taste of Edmonton for brunch on Saturday and went to the beer gardens there for the first time ever! You can get a bottle of beer for 5 tickets, aka 5 bucks! That's cheap! And it's good stuff! I also got 3 maki rolls and 3 shrimp tempura for 8 tickets ($8) from Kyoto, which is also actually a pretty good price.

After that, we still had some time to kill before he was dropping me off at Laurie's so I suggested we go to WEM so I could browse in the new Anthropologie store there. Wowee wow wow! Beautiful stuff in there I'm telling ya! But also way over the top pricey! I bought a couple of gifts, and then just touched and swooned over everything else! Even Russ thought it was pretty interesting...for about five minutes and then he waited for me outside. Also, it smells in there. I always wonder if some stores pump perfume in with the air to alter the moods of all their patrons...hmmm...

******************

My sister & I caught Harry Potter on Sunday morning. It was a good movie, but bit of a disappointment as well. Nothing really happened (except for the big thing at the end, which would be a spoiler to all if you haven't read the book, so I'm keeping it to myself) and there was a lot missing...which is standard for a book made into a movie and I'm not really upset about that, but they could have put some of it in.

ALSO, Amy tells me that they saved a lot of it for the last book-to-movies...yep movies. There are going to be two movies for the last book! Just stretch it out a bit longer, make a couple more billion dollars...Oh well. I can't really complain. I was sad when the last book came out and I'll be sad when the last movie comes out as well. It's tough to see the story end.

***********************

More hoopla at work, and I mean hoopla. Sometimes the most adult among us are also the most childish. That's all Im going to say. And also, I'm sorry to Kara for getting her into this mess...there is no way I thought "insert name here" would be so annoying...

*********************

It's nice to have Lucas home. I really missed him this weekend. He had loads of fun though, so I don't feel bad about sending him away!

********************

K. Back to work now. I'll let you know when I've posted my kit on Etsy because I am super proud about it and I want to share with others! I think I'm going to leave early today. I am so done with all this drama right now. I've been trying to catch up, and have found another notice of late fees from our helpful government and it went up $300 from the last notice I got. And to boot, the payroll company (who's fault this is until they tell me otherwise) isn't returning my calls or letters. Gee. thanks.

K. Going for real now. Sorry no pictures...okay...maybe just one...

new techneek is up!

among other things...
the big guy on the right is a canvas Lucas started and I am trying to finish.

did a bunch of art journal pages today. I'm getting into the swing of it! I finally have a place to put all those pieces of paper I have such a hard time throwing away! Grocery lists, clothing tags, labels, half-finished thoughts... Just add ink and paint.

sweet bliss of solitude

LINDSAY YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS>>>

Today is going to be a slow, wonderful day. I want to go play in the sunshine. And drink something cold and slushy. And take pictures of clouds. And paint and build more shelves. I miss my son already...he's on the road to Calgary with his grand grandparents. Dinner with my Russel tonight...we still don't know where we're going, but that has never stopped us from having fun!

**********************

Tomorrow I am off to this with her. I know it's just a craft fair, but I am very excited. I don't know what to expect, but that's half the fun. I have made an art/craft decision. Monumental. Write home about it. Hmmm...shared only within my art journal, which finally has a home (sort of). And that reminds me I forgot to bring my layouts to work so I could punch holes in them. Looks like I'm borrowing some company property for the weekend!

Here are some previews of what I am shopping for:
Monkey 100 t-shirts with a sustainable story to them.
Salgado Fenwick awesome shirts.
Roy Was Here. Weirdness illustrated
Shining Sun Gardenworks

Olga Cuttell
Tall Buildings...super hero wear for kids!

and more and more. now I am even more excited to go...but I had better stop off at the bank first!
******************

How wonderful are her pictures? Yummy Polaroids. It's very sad that Polaroids are going the way of the dinosaurs. Very sad.

******************

I need to have some doilies. For reasons that are as of yet unknown to me. I know I have some kicking around the house...but where are they. I have this funny feeling/impression of doilies. Everytime we go to Edmonton's Heritage Festival (which we might miss this year because of a camping trip & I am sad) I have a little inside joke running. You can buy a most fabulous pointy hat from the Vietnamese. Or a beautiful wool sweater from the Chileans. And learn about Arab science and exploration. And then you get to the European tents and the sea of DOILIES. That all the cultures of the world have given us so much: art, science, strange and wonderful musical instruments, colour. And they display these in their pavilions...which most people bypass for the food! but that's not the point of this point. And the not-as ancient cultures of Europe have given us sausage and doilies. At least that's how I see it through the lens of the Heritage Festival. Anyhoo, back to my original point. I need to get me some doilies. It's in my blood!

*****************

I'm thinking I might make some cookies tonight. Yum. And maybe panckaes for breaky tomorrow. Double yum!

****************

Just had my regularly schedule Friday chat with my Dad. And he got me feeling bad about all the non-work I've been doing today. So I'm going to finish my lunch, log off here, and get it taken care of.

updating your playlists takes a lot of time

and brain cells too!

while that's going on, I'll try to multi-task and post some layouts here.

Did I mention that between the crop on Friday night and my shift at the store on Saturday I finished twelve layouts. Wowee. that might even be a record for me.

Some are Riff Raff for August (so you'll have to wait) some were for my Techneeks blog, which I finally posted today.

and some were just for fun...and crooked because tonight Blogger hates me.

***************************

I mostly love going through my iTunes library because then I find things that I forgot about, and the memories just come flooding back. Like:

Sarah McLachlin Rarities, B-Sides & Other stuff (oh man this album is KILLER!)

Moist Creature (reminds me of high school and the friendly discussions with my good friend who's name currently escapes me as to who was hotter: David Usher or Raine Maida!! Or Edwin, but that's another story and another CD)

The O Brother Where Are Thou and Buffy the Vampire Slayer soundtracks

Anything Depeche Mode (still yummy after all this time, like a good cheese or wine...)

The Resevoir Dogs soundtrack. even though I only watched about 15 minutes of that movie before I have to leave the room, the soundtrack is so amazing. I especially love the "radio" breaks between songs. Super sounds of the 70s weekend...oh yeah! And Little Green Bag has got to be one of the best songs EVER!

Duran Duran Rio. My step-dad has a DVD of one of their big European concerts. It's got digital sound and it is super rad. They are the only band that I would ever spend $100+ to see. I am in love with their flowing blonde locks and white pants...granted that was 20 years ago, but I was never old enough to have crushes on them back in the day!

Blind Melon! Soup! This album had a little cross word puzzle inside that the titles of the songs fit into! Awesome! All of the songs are just so beyond their time.

**********************

I played with some sidewalk chalk tonight on the sidewalk out in front of the house. it was very tiring and wonderful.

look more crooked pictures. i need to get something on here to smallen my pictures just a tad...nothing fancy because I will die, just something simple. And I know Russ has it on his laptop, but can I have it down here??? Mmmm?

ok. later. gots to get up early to go to the Parade tomorrow. Bummer=my parking lot is RIGHT ON the parade route, which means no free parking for us! Unless we want to get there at crazy time in the morning. Uh...no thanks. It is my "day off" afterall.

oh my heart is a fish out of water

am waiting to "buy" Mother Mother sonic session tickets. am way too excited! i really need/want a coffee but I can't leave my desk until after I get them. I have refreshed the page a ridiculous amount of times since I opened this blog post. ridiculous!

and SUCCESS! WOOT! I'm emailing my date after I publish this blog (I hope she's in town that week...update: she said yes!!)

i am goofy happy now!

********************

tonight we are going to the rescheduled Light the Night Gong show, I mean Kick Off. She gives one day notice...ONE DAY! How is that even smart? How does she run this thing? (into the ground??)

********************

everything here is beautiful. I would post a real photo, but my blog doesn't like GIF.

********************

my sister & I are going to see Harry Potter on Sunday. I only have 3 days to read the book! again! There's a good trailer here but it takes forever to load. it looks ery exciting. On a kind of similar note, I'm almost finished reading Eldest, the second book in the Inheritance series by Chris Paolin. It's all about dragons and magic and elves and stuff. Funny: The Dragon Rider Master taught his student the sun pose in yoga!! but of course they didn't call it that!

********************

Am being very unproductive at work today. very. yesterday and Monday were so crazy, I just want to take it easy today...COFFEE BREAK...got a little sidetracked. I asked Betty about her family and I almost finished my coffee while she talked! love it!

********************

have you noticed how everyone and their dog is doing online classes of some sort? art journaling, page creating, mini album making, you name it. so I want to get in on the action. hop on the bandwagon so-to-speak. I just have to figure it out a little more, then I will get back to you. I shouldn't be adding any more to my plate...I'm already 5 days behind on my Techneek post that I promised. Dang it!

I have been thinking about doing a little inspiration/love/messy journal. I bought this book and am having loads of fun with it already! I want to do something similar, called "Love this Book." I have some ideas, but since I haven't written anything down, I won't remember any of my good ideas and all will be for naught.

I built one of my new bookshelves last night. Unfortunately, the legs I bought for it don't work, at least not that i can see. boo hoo! I wanted to get them up and done. oh well. another trip to IKEA won't hurt me. speaking of that, they are having a sale on these fabulous fabric covered organixer things (like magazine holders, and paper boxes). Cheap cheap little birdie, cheap cheap!

This is very interesting. Russ & I are trying to plan where we're going for dinner on Friday. Lucas is going on a road trip to Calgary with Gma and Gpa! And this list is much longer than our list! But here is ours:
1. Cosmos - Greek downtown
2. Blue Plate
3. Original Joes
4. The Hat - burgers & tapas, on Jasper Ave
5. Dadeo - Creole/Cajun on Whyte
6. High Level Diner
7. The Lingnan - cantonese
8. Azucar Picante - latin, Northside
9. Mikado - Japanese, downtown & southside
10. Moxies
11. The King & I - thai

We have a very hard decision ahead of us!

In other words:
Just might hit up the Klondike Days Parade tomorrow morning. I mean Capital Ex of course.
Have been walking a whole two blocks from parking spot to office and I feel totally better and leaner! I think once my pass is gone, I'm going to find a lot farther away than usual and wander to work. Very wonderful.
This is also wonderful, except I hate high priced fashion. The idea of an online magazine with the links built right in is the very wonderful part. Kara, check out karlascloset.com.
Etsy is on freezer mode right now. I can't get anything to load. Argh!

Am still just piddling around. It's a boring day today. slow and steady (mostly just slow). we've got to be done soone. doc is gone for the day. only one hygenist here and she's working on one of us. am so ready to go. so so ready to go. we'll see.

i'll still sign off now, and maybe sneak out and get a donut (for those of you who don't know, I work in a building with a Tim's on the main floor. today just after noon the line up went from the counter to the door, lopped back down and then out into the lobby...that's a long line. i went and got the mail instead.)

darkest before the dawn

Customs thing: done

Phone thing: almost done

White out: cleaned up because my step-mom ROCKS!!

Today started out rainy and windy weather-wise and Lisa-wise. It got a little crappier at first, but then just kept getting awesomer and awesomer.

maybe I'll tell you about it sometime. but right now I have to go and get some more work done.

thanks to all for your nice comments!

shit-tastic day

worst.

day.

ever.

on a lighter note: beautiful comes in all shapes and sizes

on a stupid note: did they actually advertise this anywhere? Or do you just have to be "in-the-know" which I am apparently not. Just adds to my irritation today.

also, the phone contract came in (yay!), and got signed (yippee!!), but it's wrong (ARGH!!), so I have to wait for an update before I can get the ball rolling...again.

i have more mail waiting to be dealt with than is humanly possible to deal with in one business day. all bills (okay...90% bills, 10% weird shit that I have no clue what to do with).

i talked to a sort-of helpful person on the Border Information Services "hot line" today. That form that I was supposed to fill out (with the 20+ page instruction booklet!), I really can't. So the lady on the line, told me just to go down to the office and take all the stuff I have (which isn't much) and tell them I don't have the information required to fill in the form (because our shipper is missing a few key brain cells), they can just help me from there.

Only one problem...I couldn't find the office. "Edmonton Municipial Airport" is not a helpful, nor specific address. I drove around the airport twice, and looked like a complete dumbass. But I never found a Border Services office, or a Customs office or anything. Thanks so much Canadian Border Services Online Office Directory. Thanks for nothing.

oh, and it's been 30 days since the notice, so CBSA probably "disposed of our package according to their regulations." $3000 worth of dental instruments down the drain. $3000 worth of dental instruments that we've already paid for. if I get blamed for this, I am going to go postal...

All of this topped off with me spilling white-out all over my keyboard and monitor. hoorah.

i am totally going to take a picture of my keyboard tomorrow and post it, because you have to see it to believe it. i need another coffee, and a stiff drink. and a back massage and a nap. maybe I'll do some embroidery and watch a movie at home tonight. I can't wait to go home.

at home...

happy day. got to work with Kara (just me and her) this morning at work-work. very nice to have the company. she passed along the August Riff Raff shapes, and im very excited to play...tonight at the crop that I'm working! Happy Birthday Chantel! I hope you don't expect a present now, cause this is it! Kidding. Did you get your fun-cubby-mail? I'm a cheap bastard so Chantel's "fun mail" got hand-delivered to her cubby at the store!

NEW CAR!! I can't believe I haven't posted pics yet! We've only had it for a little over a week, and we are still kind of in shock I think. I'm still working a name for this new guy. i want something star trek themed, in honour of hugh's little brother, but Lucas wants to call it New Hugh Number two...

I haven't seen Amy and Sean's yet...it's pretty much the same on the outside, except it's "White" and they bought the class above ours, so it has navigation and whatever inside.

Lucas' new bike. this is the first (and last) time he rode it. to the parking lot at the school and back...well sort of! He was getting pretty good! But it was raining all this week, so we haven't been out since.

****************

Here comes the heavy stuff...and no rum this time I promise. Just vodka (just kidding!).
I have figured something out. You are what you are, no more no less. You may not see it clearly, but someone does. A friend, a relative, someone. Sees you for who you are. And when you find out who that person is, that person that someone else sees in you, it can be very intimidating. Very very. To live up to that person. That person inside of you. Or just to see that person that your friend can see. And understand. And feel whole. And feel worthy. it's so hard. I can't see her. I can feel her, but I can't see her. So just keep telling me she's there. And maybe one day we'll meet up and hang out. And I'll finally get it.
okay, so that has to stop cause I'm tearing up...

im very excited about working the crop tonight. for those of you who don't know, I'm done working Saturdays at TM at the end of the month. i will still be around, blogging for them and working the odd LNC or evening shift. I just need my weekends with my boys. so every last minute I can spend at TM is treasured (tee hee!)

im busy printing out some pictures right now to scrapbook tonight. mostly wedding ones, and some of the new car and of Lucas' bike. so pretty much this post in scrapbook form!

think that's all for now...got to go get Russ & Lucas soon.

I just called...to say...I love you

Ah, Lionel Ritchie you are so awesome. Why on earth is your daughter the way she is...

I so wanted to blog yesterday, but I was so busy at work. And today is no different really, but I must say something or I will go crazy (I mean, crazier!)

Am busy making some more "fun mail" to go out this week. I love sending mail!! And I also love receiving mail, hint hint.

********************

I spent the whole morning trying to figure out our Telus bills. We are trying to upgrade our system and it is the most frustrating thing ever (except for the Customs mess I have on my desk as well, which I don't want to talk about...)

Why can't it be easy? Why oh why can't we just make a simple call, say upgrade us now, thanks, and have it be done! Our offices are in such a mess it isn't even funny! And I am getting sick of the non-answers the Telus lady has been giving me. If it wasn't going to be a larger pain in my butt, I would just say screw it and switch to Shaw.

********************

I don't like my new wall colour at home. It is very bright. And very "pastel-babychicks-yellow" and I am having a hard time with it. I think once I paint all the walls and get my art and stuff up on top, it won't be so bad, but right now... Ugh! Why can't I just like beige?

********************

Oh man. I think I'm done. I have more cheques to write and I still have to figure out some more Telus stuff before I go home. What a yawn post...sorry no pictures!

driving along in my automobile...

I finally posted some items on our Etsy store...did I mention that already? Two of my "gadget pouches". We'll see how they fare.

**************

WORK BREAK

**************

Love the XM Radio in the new Santa Fe. Found a good station that's all 1940s Big Band Jazz music! Love it!!!

Also Love my new drink concoction at Starbucks...not really that inventive, but still tasty. Coffee Frappucino with Cinnamon Dolce syrup. Mmmm.

SYTYCD
Was amazing again this week. All of the dances were just so cool! They should make a DVD of all the group dances. I would spend big money on that!

**************

Who all among you would be interested in a monthly CREATE night? I find that sometimes craft and creativity take a back seat to all the crap of normal everyday life. But if I knew that one night every month I would be able to just sit and gab with my girlfriends and create like mad, I would be a little bit less insane. Bring back the Sanity!!

Everyone is welcome. We could hold it solely at my house or rotate depend on who's comfortable with hosting a "crowd". Heck, it would give me some motivation to clean up after myself!! Ha! Snacks (and wine...) would be on hand. And only healthy snacks...like cheesy poofs, and things dipped in chocolate!

Artists...
Vivienne Strauss

I see a market on Etsy for...
...Plus sized vintage and handmade fashions that don't look like gack or whore-y. Big girls like to look good too! Once I get my sewing machine out and dusted off and buy some thread and figure out how it works and buy a pattern and figure out how that works and pigs will start flying and hell will freeze over so we'll all need some warm protective head gear which is where my clothing empire will begin! Mwa-ha-ha!

Check this out in the meantime...Boutique Mia. Some beautiful "made to order" shirts and dresses. I have also found a smattering of cute plus-sized vintage dresses! Now I must decide where to spend my hard-earned $$.

Super rad and fab!!

And most wonderful indeed!

Am off to the back. Put the phones on answer, maybe warm up a bit with a refreshed coffee. Work hard, then head home. Last night I started prepping my wall to paint it today! Woot! It's very creamy yellow (baby ducks...) but I think - I hope - it will dry much much darker and less happy baby!
