Last Minute Pop

It was particularly gloomy today (aka yesterday). The snow is back, and the muck, and the wind, and the slurpy slushy streets. A perfect day for a pop of colour.

I can barely believe that Target has all their summer stock out right now. Short shorts, bikinis and maxi skirts are all the rage...and winter hasn't even really hit its stride! But I felt the sales pressure when I saw this coral beauty, and got worried that it wouldn't be around when I was really ready for spring fashion. But it turns out that I was ready after all!

Can you see the knotty gnarly tree there in my new yard?! I can't wait to try climbing that in the spring. And my deck there? It's blue! Even Mom is excited about sitting out there with a cold drink in the summer. Sorry...got sidetracked by my awesome new home...anyhoo. My top is from Forever 21 via Value Village. It is a super soft mohairy wool, and with the cream and lace I feel very trendy. Oh dear.

Note: The images my camera produces are still so grainy. And driving me crazy (see above...crazy). What to do?! Do I just give up and give in, and see if I can return the bugger? Or do I keep playing around, and trying to figure it out. Heck, even Nicole couldn't figure out why everything was so yellow, and she's pretty smart with cameras!

Speaking of Nicole, she's hosting a What to Wear link up over on her blog today. "Pop of Colour", that's the theme this week. Thanks again for the reminder dearie. You're the best!

I'm a little late to the party...

The What to Wear on Valentine's Day link up went live on Thursday. And here I am finally getting my post up five six seven days later. Sigh...

Technically, this is probably not what I will be wearing for Valentine's Day at all. It is however, the outfit I had on last Thursday when I was supposed to have written - and posted - this post.

I take photos at work because I am always at work...apparently.

The next photos will tell you why I didn't have my post up and running that night...and will prove the above statement.

This is our Cash & Cars for Cancer Lottery Home. I was filling in for the Area Sales Manager that night. And when you're hanging out in a $1.5 million dollar home, you might as well take some completely ridiculous photos. Amiright?!

Cozy Livin'

I am losing my patience with my new camera. Big ol sigh over here.

This is my "stupid fucking camera, are you KIDDING me with these settings?!" face.

Anyhoo, this is supposed to be my What to Wear for a cozy night in. And while technically I went to IKEA in this, it is my go-to outfit for the moment I step in the door after work. Leggings, Bill-Fucking-Murray tee and denim shirt. And that's that. Great for sitting on my couch, or one of IKEA's!

Nicole's got the link up, so head on over and say hey.

What to Wear: Layers (aka Lisa is still a giant dork)

I remembered! That is a sweet life boon in and of itself. But as a handy bonus, my new camera came! And I got to test it out on my first "What to Wear Fashion Shoot" of the year!

And it was (mostly) a disaster.

Everything started out blurry and with weird colours.

And did I mention that all my pictures are a really weird size. Sigh. Guess I should read the manual. I hate reading the manual...

But my outfit was really cute! So, there's that.

But I'm still a dork...there is very little hope for me.

Here's hoping I can at least figure out the camera.

Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet

Halloween Costumes from year's past...I thought this might be interesting...
2007: Polly the Parrot & the Cap'N
2008: Ghostbuster
2009: Dude as McQueen...no blog posts to represent my costume. Must now satisfy my curiosity and look through the photo archives! (I didn't have one? WTF?!?!?!?!)
2010: Lumberjack and Sheriff...and this is when I realize that I used to only share photos and events via scrapbook layouts and I kind of miss that and also hate that. Hmmm.
2011: Flo, the Progressive Insurance Lady
2012: Giant Alice in Wonderland

And 2013...PG-13 Slutty Zombie Pirate!

I was thinking of adding some vampire teeth in there, but I figured that might be pushing it a little. And I took the slutty out because it was chilly tonight. Bill Fucking Murray was keeping me company. I got lots of compliments on my costume, some candy just for me, and some random guy liked my shirt! Yeah!

While I am quite enamored with Halloween, Dude has never really been interested. Until this year. He picked his own costume, and yes it may just be a t-shirt with a cape, but he picked it out. And he was excited to go Trick or Treating, and we went across the main road! This has never ever happened!!! I WAS SO FLIPPIN' EXCITED!!

But his favourite part is handing out candy...he's my special guy.

And I pretty much stayed in character all night. My voice is gone from all the "arrrghs" and "where's me booty" and "say thank ye"...

This is a What to Wear post, if you can believe it! Nicole is hosting the link up at her place, so head on over. And now, I'm off to bed. Maybe I'll watch a little more SNL Halloween Special...oh Stefan, I missed you.....

Poky Polka Dots

Yes. I am almost three weeks late with this post. But I was only a day late with the outfit! Shush! Just sit back and enjoy...

Since I felt bad about missing our bi-weekly What to Wear post, I decided to really embrace the theme with my whole heart and wear all polka dots. I forgot about my neon pink polka dot underpants until it was too late and I was already layered up and out the door. You can go ahead and imagine me in them if you want.

Saucy head scarf! With polka dots!

So many saucy faces today. All those dots went to my head I think.

Stop, and think about safety...and polka dots!

Let's All Go To The Lobby...And Get Ourselves a Snack!

I was going to post something totally different today, BUT I DID THE RIGHT WHAT TO WEAR OUTFIT AND TOOK PHOTOS AND WROTE A POST! Sorry for all the caps, but I'm just so durned excited! I actually wrote two blog posts last night, and have ideas for more! Gasp!

Anyhoo, let's get on with things. This week's What to Wear prompt was "...to the movies". I go to movies! Usually my kind of movie date is at the Garneau Theatre aka Metro Cinema, which shows old movies, really old movies, and documentaries. And the last time I went, I was wearing an outfit that already gets lots of play on this blog. But I was looking kind of cute tonight on my way out the door (literally) to get ice cream, so I made Russ take a couple of photos.

This is totally an outfit I would wear to the movies. Warm sweater, comfy jeans, chucks, dorky mismatched laces. Maybe I would actually do my hair, and stand up straight (and wear a proper bra...geeze Lisa). But really, all the important items are there. What else would I even add?

Right. Snacks.

Hi Nicole. Can I come over and play?

What's your favourite movie?
The correct answer is Breakfast Club.

I got this...

What to wear to a bookstore?! Yeah, I got this!

Nope, dropped the ball again. I have higher hopes for Nicole and the rest of the ladies.

My only "must have" when going to a bookstore is a large tote, in which to carry all of my purchases. Like one of these for example...

Sweet Totes

But usually I just use a grocery bag from the trunk...

Serendipitous What To Wear

This prompt - what to wear to a music festival - was serendipitous because I just happened to go to the Edmonton Folk Music Festival two weeks ago! I didn't get a lot of pictures of my outfit, but I would still love to share some of my good times with you today.

Must haves:
- Comfy & sturdy sandals, good for walking from stage to stage and keeping cool & cute!
- Hat & sunglasses to keep the sun off
- Backpack covered in pieces of flair for carrying water, sweater & pants for when it cools off in the evening, and the rest of the goods!
- Notebook and coloured pens....cause that's how I roll!
- Music Festival Program so you can best choose which stage to hit up next

Speaking of hats...
We spent some time tying knots in weeds to add some hippy-decor to my fedora. Dan's pith helmet needs no extra decor, cause it's damn awesome as-is!

And here is BFF's What to Wear to a Music Festival. His also applies to "What to Wear While Napping at a Music Festival"...love those long hot summer days!

I'm linking up at Nicole's blog today with the What to Wear group. We're dwindling away! Won't you join us?

It was a long day, and we left about three songs in to Bruce Cockburn's set cause we were both yawning so darn much! But we had a lovely time. Highlights include:
- Seeing Martin Sexton perform twice!
- Meeting up with my friend Marilyn for a catch-up
- Discovering some new favourites: Shakey Graves, Rayland Baxter, Ron Hines, Rachelle van Zanten, The Milk Carton Kids...ummm...etc!
- Veggie burger from The Act food truck for dinner (so delicious)
- Our contraband beer...shhh, don't tell!
- Watching the sunset over downtown, and the beautiful moon come out, and the International Space Station zoom by overhead!

How have you been spending your long summer days?

Oh A-Camping We Will Go!

This week's "What To Wear" theme is camping. And even though I don't have a trip scheduled for a couple of weeks, I was wearing a dorky shirt tonight and thought I would play along.

On a side note, like my new fence? Only a handful of plants were sacrificed for this beauty, and it's not even done yet! Grumble grumble...

There's nothing quite like a super dorky t-shirt to make this girl smile. This is what I get for a souvenir when Russel goes away. This and booze. At least he's got that figured out!
I'll have to take the shirt's word for it. If you want to get technical, this is Dude's shirt. Mine has the colours reversed, one size up.

For the full link up, check out this post on Nicole's blog (Gypsy in Jasper). There's some good'uns this week! And next time around - on the 8th I guess - we are showcasing what to wear in a thunderstorm. The plans are in the works people!

Classic Everything

On an Ice Cream Date!
Option A is for an actual date, like "romantic" or whatever. And Option B is for a date out with your girlfriends. Polka dots are not optional. For any type of ice cream date.

Why, hello there cutie. Going my way?!

'Sup dork?! I just love hanging out with you cause you're such a big damn dork!

This outfit reminds me of the day that I got rid of all my pink clothes, 'cause I was all like: "I don't wear pink clothes, 'cause they are stupid and ugly, and why do I even have all these pink clothes, 'cause I hate pink clothes!" Ha...loser.

Here are those sexy tanned mexico legs again. Yep. I'm hot.

And here is my handsome date. Too bad he doesn't have any table manners. Someone should tell his mother...

Goodnight Friends!

Power Leopard...Cow Bell

Power outfit? I take this to mean the outfit that makes me feel powerful. And beautiful, and comfortable, and strong. The outfit that shows the world who I really am. The outfit that makes me feel most like me.

And I was totally going to put on my new lime green sexy (wink wink) running shorts for this one, but I thought I would try something else.
yes I realize I am wearing jean shorts...bear with me!

This is the shirt I wear when I don't know what to wear. This is the shirt I wear on date nights and to follow-up interviews. And to baby showers that require a road trip to Calgary...apparently.

This is the shirt that I picked up on a whim in one colour, immediately wished I'd bought it in the other colour, put myself on a clothes-buying freeze, then watched it go on sale for half price. But I'm not bitter.

This is a shirt that makes me feel beautiful and daring and sexy. Not "lime green running shorts" sexy, but you get the picture. So I guess this is more a post about a power shirt. Pants are optional. Geeze, not like that!

Oh...and go to Nicole's blog for the complete What To Wear link list. That's where the "party" kicks off!

And go visit ViVi's blog! Because she might have fallen off the face of the blog-earth, but I believe this topic was her idea! Where are you ViVi?!

p.s. The title of this blog post is brought to you by Christian Hansen & The Autistic's "Cocaine Trade". Cause I like music, yo! This particular road trip is brought to you by Summer Road Trip Songs on Sirius XM's Classic Vinyl. Oh man, were my toes a-tappin' and steering wheel drum kit rockin' all the way to Calgary and back!

p.p.s. I took these photos at a random roadside turnoff on HWY 2 on Sunday afternoon. The prairie sky, and fields, and sunsets always put a smile on my face and make me feel at peace....
