Challenge #4

Here are some submissions for my last challenge.

Lisa

Jill
Juli
Nadine
I know Kara finished hers, but I don't have a pic of it (Anam or Kara, I think one of you do, if you could send it my way!). I love how all the layouts turned out! They are so rad!!

I probably won't have the next challenge up until some time next week...I gave Russ and I food poisoning last night (serves me right for tryin something new!!), so I am still feeling crap-tacular today and am surprised I've lasted this long on the computer. I'll try and get my act together tomorrow and pick some paper and grab some embellies and get it going!

Can't wait to play with my new Perfect Pearls...and I so didn't cave into the Glimmer Mist awesomeness at the store...so my pocketbook is starting to fill out again! Am still having too much fun playing with my alcohol inks/colour wash/perfect pearls to spend $8 (GASP) on Glimmer Mist. Besides, there are too many colours to choose from. I know I know. That sounds lame, but it's true! What if I pick the wrong shade of blue? Ack! I think Juli's been talking about doing a Glimmer Mist class...too rad! That lady has some awesome ideas when it comes to that kind of stuff. Her and Chan have been kicking my butt lately!

later, :isa

Who doesn't love free stuff?

Riff Raff Designs is having a page layout contest. Just use some chipboard (doesn't have to be Riff Raff, but you get extra points if it is!), link up your page, and wait for the free stuff to come rolling in!

You win one of each designs in the May release...and there's some very rad stuff in there!!

Your layout is due May 3rd at Midnight (MST)

Click here for more info, and how to get your hands on some Riff Raff in the meantime!

As per juli's suggestion (totally smarter than me), I took some pics of my rad page (the one that was an Honorable Mention!!!!) and have decided to post it again. lots of good stuff to see.

New Store pics

plus a canvas I did...which will become a class one day!

(above) a little framed display I did up
(below) My canvas

ScrapMojo

All of these challenges lately have been after my own heart...this one was to use the Juno soundtrack for inspiration! I am so there!!

"If I was a flower growing wild and free, all i'd want is you to be my sweet honey bee. and if i was a tree growing strong and green all i'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves." from All I Want is You track number one!

this is a picture of my parent's wedding. check out the rad brown suit and giant bow tie!! and my Mom's big glasses. awesome! Like my little drawing at the top there! I used up a heck of a lot of my MK sticker letters, but it was worth it. also, new alcohol ink technique: drip it on, slather it around and then spray with Glimmer Mist (I used Red Pepper ink and Suede mist). A really neat, smuchy dirty effect.

HONORABLE MENTION!!!

YIPTEE HOORAH! I got an honorable mention on SCRAPJACKED!! I am flying high! I haven't been on the computer on ages and when I finally show up, I have this lovely surprise waiting for me!!

Plus my rad layouts are up on Riff Raff and they're having a contest for all you Scrappers out there...to win some CHIPBOARD! WOOT!!

I'm done working (3 days in a row was hard on me...I was meant to be a SAHM!), and am looking forward to a nice paycheque coming! But some of it will go towards my crazy parking bill. Downtown. 5 days. "Early Bird" price. $14 per day. Equals $70. For parking. Yikes! And I was so not happy to see that I would have to start my working career all over again by driving to work in snow and more snow, and yucky roads, and wind and not pleasant weather at all! That just means that I wasn't missing being outside by being stuck inside. And it was fun to work with my step-mom and meet all the rad ladies she works with.

I'm going to turn on some heat...it is freezing down here...and get some scrappin done. Just picked up the new Riff Raff designs at TM today, and am so looking forward to playing with them!

I know...I'm late

this was supposed to be for OLW's latest challenge. But I finished it at the crop last night and didn't get home until after 2am, and I didn't have my camera with me at the crop and I forgot to bring the page home with me so I could scan it, and it would have been passed midnight mountain time anyways. So here it is, the day after (I was never too good with deadlines!) and I'm still submitting 'cause it's done and I think it's rad!!

And it's sideways because I can't figure out how to rotate it on the office machine. Duh.

Title is: best wedding (picture of a champagne bottle, from which I was "forced" to drink "shot" after "shot" after "shot" by the groom's Russian father. I swear the only English word I heard him say all night was "drink"!! Russ and I were made honorary members of the bridal party and made it into the official photos. We had yummy food at a little Greek restaurant and hung out with some pretty rad people all day. Overall, it was one of the best weddings I have ever attended...aside from my own of course!!)

Sleeping Beauty arises!

Put me to work...and I mean real work...and I fall apart! I worked Monday, slept Tuesday. Worked Wednesday, taught a class Thursday then vegged out and read all afternoon. We'll see if I'm back to my usual rad self tomorrow. I have been working with my step-Mom at her office (she is a "receptionist" at a periodontal practice), helping her out while her office buddy is in Paris. This might turn into a more permanent-temporary shtick...which is totally cool 'cause it gives me some time away from home and it gives Lucas some time with Great-Grandma.

P.S. My class went really well today...met some cool new ladies and they had a good time just doodling and chatting and being awesome.

Will I be seeing you at "This Ain't Your Momma's Crop" at Treasured Memories tomorrow? I'll be there will bells on...and hopefully get some scrappin done while I'm at it. There will be yum-o food and make and takes and a silent auction. Check out the TM blog for more info.

I still have so many dishes piled up that are waiting to be washed. It seems as though just when I get a bunch done, here comes dinner and a whole new pile! And don't even get me started on the laundry situation at my house.

Still have a couple of Challenge Kits waiting for homes...you have time to get them done (they're technically "due" on Saturday but I'm pretty relaxed about those sorts of things!!) I'll keep the kits available after the next one comes out, which should be Monday or Tuesday. I got a bunch of donations from Anam, so there will be some sweet stuff coming your way!

Challenge Kit...One Week and Counting

So I still have 3 challenge kits left...who wants one?? I'm writing to those ladies who "stalk" my blog, but never comment and don't think I know about them...I know you're out there and dying to take part in my challenge. Remember it's FREE STUFF!! And there are no winners and losers. Only rad participants. You know you want it!!

I'm enjoying getting nice and messy at work today...working on demos for my Ranger and Doodling classes that are running this month (hooray...I have 8 people signed up for my Ranger class...that's like a sell-out people! Woot!) I will take photos and post so those of you who are signed up know what you're getting into and those of you who didn't sign up can see what you're missing!! Snap!

Went for a nice dinner with my high school girlfriends last night. And no red wine fiasco! Hazaa for me! We're trying to plan a "10 year high school reunion version 2.0" cause none of them want to go to the "official" one. I love them!!

Let the boredom end Lisa...for pete's sake! Stop typing about nothing.

Sorry. I can't help myself.

My latest challenge page

and it's for my own challenge. and i don't like it. oh well.

Russ and I were trying to finish our taxes last night (he just got the last of his T-slips), and my stupid stuff is giving us a headache, like always. Argh! So I have to make a bunch of phone calls today and find a bunch of things out and Lucas is making me play his weird computer games (yay Cars movie...) But I bought some pretty lipgloss from Allison last night so all has not gone to crap!

Love these little guys!

We have been waiting on these for EVER! Making Memories supposedly discontinued them (stupid-heads!) and now they're back! Can you say awesome!?!? Plus they come in other colours now! (brown, pink-ish and blue)

ScrapJacked/Mojo Challenges...aka I'm a lazy mess tonight

I never combine challenges...but this time I had this one photo and it seemed to work for both sites so here goes! (mmm...this is the photo from a previous post tonight...what's up with that!?!?!)

The scan is really terrible...the title is stamped to the right of the photo and reads: "subject: now it's your turn" I used lots of fun Ranger products: crackle paint, perfect pearls, colour wash, and alcohol inks. I combine the perfect pearls with everything! My whole page is sparkly cause the stuff gets everywhere! I love the elastic band around the Riff Raff ladies! The grommet flower above the photo has my weird-not-rad alcohol inks and perfect pearls technique...i never did add any glossy accents, but am trying the same thing with another grommet so we'll see how things go!

Good news: I pre-registered Lucas in pre-school tonight, so we're good to go for September if I can't find out anything about other the one close by.

PS. I'm sure that Anam or Juli could have fixed my horrid scan-job, and I could have easily managed to tidy things up if I wasn't so darn tired and fighting a nasty headache (i.e. one that will be nastier in the morning!). I wanted to get this puppy out tonight, so I apologize again for the wonky scan...it's making my head hurt even more!

Bloggering

If she likes this, it must be good!

Donna Downey is so rad...How cool would it be to take a class by her? Chantel...

You know how sometimes you forget you really like somebody's style and it takes a million other people mentioning that person's name until you get your head out of your butt and check out their blog. Meet Vicki Boutin. Kara gets to "hang out" with her at Scrapfest, which totally freaks her out becuase Vicki is a bit of a scrapping celebrity! Tee hee! I wish Scrapfest was coming to Edmonton this year. Boo hoo.

I would love to see YOUR favourite blog...link me up!

I love Juli

Because if she was a man she would be "da man." She came up with this rad technique (which Lindsay and I went so crazy for on Sat) and I have been dying to try it for real at home. So I was going to do it up on some Heidi Swapp clear flowers, but got to the perfect pearls part, let it dry and then decided I liked it the way it looked, so I didn't add the glossy accents.

Then I tried parts one and two on a metal Making Memories flower grommet that I got for free in my CHA-Chantel

insert weird thing here: the theme music for my boyfriend George's show is playing on Sonic right now...about the same time as it would be playing on tv! crazy awesome!

grab bag. so I put down some Stream alcohol ink, then my green perfect pearls. Then I added a couple drops of Lettuce alcohol ink and let 'er rip! The effect is so beyond rad! It looks all old and metallic and black and awesome...but it isn't dry yet. When it dries it looks less rad then at first (the perfect pearls have smuched up in different places and the effect is tres weird and not in a rad way.) I'm going to try adding some glossy accents and I'll let you know what happens!

Messing around at the crop on Sat, Anam did some cool stuff with alcohol inks and metal. I'm going to try and incorporate it into my Ranger class at TM. should be good for a laugh!

and I'll try to take pics of my finished products with some step by step once I've figured everything out. am working on Scrapjacked/Mojo challenges right now...love to get back to being messy and random!

Nothing new I'm afraid!

For those of you who were looking for something interesting in this post, you might as well stop reading now, cause you ain't going to find anything!

New Goodie Box Challenge is up!

Lost and Found Studios Cool mixed media website...fans of TM!!

LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of NEW stuff at TM and right now I think they have a 40% one item coupon running.

Got tonnes done at the crop on Saturday night/Sunday morning (the majority of us rad ladies stayed until 3am!), but all of it was either for Kara's Riff Raff stuff (good luck in Kitchener!) or the store's kit for next month...neither of which I can post right now!!!

Here's an old picture...

Russ and I celebrate our 5th anniversary this year! It's so much fun to go back and look at those "old" photos! This is a pic of me and one of my bridesmaids (Sarah, whom I've known since kindergarten!) She is getting married this year! Hazaa! That's two weddings for me in September! Better lose this belly flab so I can be looking stellar and have the energy to dance all night! D'ya think the brides would mind if I only requested Boney M??

Love ya,
:isa

Mean Girls

Check this video out...

This is art, not the art of war.

The World Wide Web

New Sites I found:

Dream Girls. Their first challenge is to use the word dream (in some form) and to use scallops or curves and paint. Good challenge!!

How Dare You They are showcasing a cool technique called monoprinting. Using a bit of paint and a paper bag you can create a totally rad look. Check it out!

Audrey from Australia. Great altered art! Lisa is in love!

Nirvana Elements. Lots of cool stuff here. Awesome chipboard and papers...love the owls!

Scraptivate. This store looks like your average scrapbooking store, but check out some of the names of their classes! "Poppet Canvas" "Fibre-Licious Storage Binder" I'd take those classes based on their rad names alone!

Kalbach's blog... I found her on SIStv. she has some awesome stuff, but I never have visited her blog until just now. She does some crazy awesome things with paint!

I so should be doing the things I'm supposed to be doing...but am instead wasting time on SIStv. But I am sort of in computer withdrawal, I haven't been on in awhile. So I'm due for a little time on the web! Plus Russ is sick and sleeping upstairs on the couch so I have the basement all to myself! I'm just making the most of my time!! But here I go. For real now.

TM April Kit

now this kit was a total challenge for me...I was running low on embellishments by the third page!! Plus they gave me Stickles and sparkly paper!! Yikes!

But it was fun to be "forced" to use only the supplies provided (plus cardstock...of course). It really makes it easy to do at crops: just take the kit, your trimmer and some adhesive and you're set for the night!! When all was said and done I got five 6x12 layouts, three 8.5x11 layouts and 2 projects out of the $35 kit (but that's about $50 worth of product!!). And you get some Riff Raff chipboard in every kit, which I am so in love with right now! Their April release is fabulous!!

Kara and Chantel have already put together the May kit and I'm busy doing demos up for that one now!! And here's your one and only hint: it's totally Kara!!

but I should get back to "work." I have a lot to do before tomorrow (work then a staff crop at the store). ta ta. :isa

Sorry Jules!

I didn't post her last challenge pages because I couldn't find them! Brain Fart-o-rama! So she gets her very own post because she was so kind to email me the pics so I wouldn't have to find them on her Blog, because obviously I messed up on that one the first go around!

So I'll see y'all at the store on Saturday for the big sale right?? I'll be there in all my new-shirt-glory! Yeah shopping! I totally already spent my paycheque for this week! Oops!!

P.S. I totally love my new 6x12 album. The new 8.5 x 11?? Who knows! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new Riff Raff shapes I am busy with all the pics I took at Reynolds. I love old cars! But I am running out of ideas!

Have another Spring Break class tomorrow. Today's was rockin. Kids are so creative and don't care what anybody else thinks about their "design" and are so not worried about doing it "right" or impressing anyone. It's so fun teaching them!

Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Hello I'm a Bee

busy busy busy. i've been at TM everyday this week working...Spring Break classes!! Plus I've been getting my scrapbooking "homework" finished: some Riff Raff stuff, some "secret" stuff, some random stuff. I did 4 more pages for the new Riff Raff DT stuff last night (in addition to my three from yesterday) and am on a total roll for tomorrow. Mom has Lucas all day and is keeping him overnight so I can teach my class and then relax. Russ is busy tomorrow night, so I'll have some time to myself. I might go shopping!!

I'll try and post some things tomorrow. It''s too bad most of the stuff I'm doing isn't for me!!
