Valentine's Mail + Art

HELLO LAST MINUTE VALENTINE CARDS!

I set reminders for myself in my calendars and day timers and all those places, and I still leave it until the last possible second. But that's cool. Cause that's my jam and I know it.

Also, I might have a few crafts supplies at home or whatever.

Check it out!

SUPPLIES USED
- Hand carved stamps
- Archival stamping ink, black
- Assorted washi tape (hearts! crowns! llamas!)
- Neon Sharpies
- Old paper bags...

So! I didn't have enough envelopes to go with the cards, but that has never stopped me. What I do have is a collection of every single paper bag I have ever received from Treasured Memories and a sewing machine/

Enter handmade envelopes!

Cut paper bag. Stitch 3 out of 4 edges. Insert card. Tape the last edge. Easy peasy.

Lucas came to watch me finish up and got really excited when he saw my stamps! He asked if I was carving again, and I said no. And he told me: "Y'know, stamp carving isn't just for 100 day project. You should carve more stamps."

Damn straight Buddy. Why are you so smart?

All of the stamps I used are from my 100 Days of Stamp Carving Project, and those posts can be found here.
I don't do a lot of Valentine's "Crafts", but here's a fun mini! Valentine Mini Book
My post from Valentine's Day 2011 was a real blast from the past...life is so hard and wonderful.

Valentine + Family Day Long Weekend

The Valentine's Day + Family Day Long Weekend wrap up post. I think overall it was a good weekend. But this post will be super lame. I had a revelation this weekend. About blogging, and record-keeping, and all that...but I will save it for another day. And instead just leave you with this list.

February 14 = Roses & rolling pin delivery + sushi dinner with the Kercher Boys * * February 15 = Nicole + Value Village + Happy Garden + Sugar Cookies * * February 16 = Breakfast + IKEA + Antique Mall + Fish Tacos + Salisbury Succulents + Family Dinner * * February 17 = Zoo + Errands + Dinner by Candlelight

Yep. I'd say it was a great weekend.

Let's Celebrate Love!

Well, today is the Day of Love. What are your plans? Do they involve bon bons and rom coms? A romantic night out with your Handsome Dreamboat? Or a rowdy escapade with your single pals?

Our Kercher Family Tradition is to get some sushi and just hang out. Maybe watch a movie, eat a fun dessert. Sometimes we go for pizza. I spent a ridiculously long amount of some time going back through my archives this morning to find more Valentine's posts from years past and I can't. So much for documenting life on my blog. Geeze Lisa.

So come Monday I want to have a real life Valentine's Day Recap post (boy that sentence is going to mess with my search efforts next year...). But until then, here are all my hopes and dreams and possible plans for a successful V-Day 2014.

The Silver Skate Festival starts tonight. Might be fun to check out this weekend.

Speaking of skating, City Hall is hosting a Valentine's Day Disco Skate this evening. Might be fun to check out....BUT Metro Cinema is also showing Casablanca. 2 for 1 admission! Too many choices for this girl!!!

Today begins the Family Day long weekend, so there are loads of events around town celebrating that holiday as well. Like this one in Ambleside...it's work-related, so can I charge my miles? (wink)

I'm not really a fan of exchanging gifts on Valentine's Day, but this idea from Chapters might just make the cut. I do so love handmade do-dads.

Also, food. I need some heart-shaped, red, sugary, icing-y food. Like these pancakes. Or perhaps donuts are more your style. I found a heart-shaped cookie cutter and a gluten-free sugar cookie recipe I would like to try out.

And did I mention my favourite "Bees Knees" is coming to visit?! WHEEE!! I think we're going to drink beer and snuggle in my comfy bed. In addition to the forty-billion ideas I have been emailing her over the past day. Sorry...or am I?!

I have a long weekend policy ("long weekends are good for getting shit done, and lazing around"), so here's hoping I get a little bit of both in this weekend.

Did I already ask you about your plans?
Why haven't you answered yet?!

p.s. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

p.p.s. Dude's Duck Face is far superior to mine. I apologize to the Internet in advance for teaching him this, and for his mad skills. My bad.

February is for Lovin'

If I had to make a Valentine's Day wish list, it would go something like this...
1. This dress. Nothing like a fancy dress for a romantic dinner out. // 2. A red lamp. I have plans...that require mood lighting, apparently. // 3. This lipstick. Well...more of it actually. It's my new favourite! // 4. Love poems. To read aloud. Wink.// 5. Some Noodler's Ink. I'm thinking a bright red would be perfect for writing some love poems of my own. Double wink. // 6. Everlane cashmere sweater. Because, well...cashmere. // 7. Everything's Coming Up Millhouse tee. Just because.

Yes, I realize Valentine's Day is a ridiculous, made up holiday for the greeting card, chocolate, and diamond companies, but it's still fun to celebrate LOVE and COMPANIONSHIP and TOGETHERNESS.

But really, we should be doing that everyday any way...right?
With or without gifts...right?! (wink)
