Valentine's Mail + Art

HELLO LAST MINUTE VALENTINE CARDS!

I set reminders for myself in my calendars and day timers and all those places, and I still leave it until the last possible second. But that's cool. Cause that's my jam and I know it.

Also, I might have a few crafts supplies at home or whatever.

Check it out!

SUPPLIES USED
- Hand carved stamps
- Archival stamping ink, black
- Assorted washi tape (hearts! crowns! llamas!)
- Neon Sharpies
- Old paper bags...

So! I didn't have enough envelopes to go with the cards, but that has never stopped me. What I do have is a collection of every single paper bag I have ever received from Treasured Memories and a sewing machine/

Enter handmade envelopes!

Cut paper bag. Stitch 3 out of 4 edges. Insert card. Tape the last edge. Easy peasy.

Lucas came to watch me finish up and got really excited when he saw my stamps! He asked if I was carving again, and I said no. And he told me: "Y'know, stamp carving isn't just for 100 day project. You should carve more stamps."

Damn straight Buddy. Why are you so smart?

All of the stamps I used are from my 100 Days of Stamp Carving Project, and those posts can be found here.
I don't do a lot of Valentine's "Crafts", but here's a fun mini! Valentine Mini Book
My post from Valentine's Day 2011 was a real blast from the past...life is so hard and wonderful.

Mail Art...better super late than never!?!?

Oh my goodness. Talk about losing track of my brain for a month there! I missed Ginger's Mail Art Exchange deadline...by two weeks! I have no one to blame but myself, and I do that just fine thanks! But Alexa's mail got out eventually and I will admit that I had fun making her little envelope and card, even if I rushed right through it so I could get it in the mail as soon as humanly possible (which was the next day, cause I was taking a mental health day, which means not leaving the house unless absolutely necessary)

I used mostly things sitting on my craft table, left out from other projects...all things that I lurve. The envelope is a re-purposed one, of course, and I used a sweet paint chip as the base for my card! Other than that, it sort of shows you the colours I have been jonesing on the last little bit...green + grey.

I heart fun mail...I should really start sending it again, like for reals.

I also received a super sweet notebook from Mel, which I posted about last week! LOVE IT!!
Thanks again!!

today I...

- Started the massive task of cleaning up my Studio. I had to move everything over to one side so we could have the furnace and ducts cleaned on Wednesday. I figure that before I put everything back to how it was, I might try and tackle some of the random clutter that has taken over my space!

- Received some Fun Mail from the UK! Thanks to Ginger for organizing this exchange again.

- Went on a lunch date with my husband to Mucho Burrito!

- Am getting ready to go assist at a Worm Bin Presentation at Lucas' school (not in his class though!)

- Finalized my Halloween costume, and found 90% of what I needed for it at Value Village! Here's a tip: always pull the wig out of the bag before you buy it!! Does this look like a cute 50s Flip with Bangs to you!?!?!

p.s. Jill, that Power Pout is for you!!

two hours

I have about two hours before I'm picking Amy up from Mom's house to initiate Operation "Get Amy to the Alter 2009." So I thought I would Blog a bit! HA! I've already cut my hair and printed my speech...what else is there to do???

Wedding makeup test run last night...I look like a pretty girl! WOW! Shoppers Drug Mart sells organic makeup now, so I was in heaven! And it goes on really nice and smells real, not like other makeup. And isn't my flower cute? I took a standard Prima flower, added some extra tulle and a pretty CI brad, sewed onto a hair clip...voila.

Some random layouts I've completed at work the last couple of Saturdays. But not this Saturday because it's wedding day! There's a fourth one, but I guess I don't have a picture of it. Strange...oh well! the first pic is of the most cool four year old I have ever met! (Lucas isn't four yet, so i can still say that!!). he speaks Spanish fluently, he knows the words to Mr. Roboto, and he likes to play Star Wars!!

Russ and the iPod I bought him. He was actually happy to pose for the camera! YAY!

And yes, this is totally a Christmas layout...sort of...

The window washer at my building the other day. it is so funny to see someone outside your window on the 8th floor!

Mexican Bulldog at Moxie's. I hate Coronas, but love Margaritas. This was super delicio-so!

The lovely package I got in the mail the other day with some fab new earrings I ordered from Etsy (and took forever to get here thank you very much...but worth it!)

The latest painting I have been working on. It's been a couple of weeks since I did anything to it, but it's the most current painting I have to share.

I should go now, and finish getting ready. Plus, I need more coffee!
