Lately...products from my messy desk

I wouldn't say that I am being productive, but I have conveniently forgotten about Project Life and am instead focusing my creative-energy on scrapbooking whatever photos I have laying around.

The Instax is helpful in this regard! Also, BFF is getting quite adept at taking photos with it! Gosh I love all that gold...thank goodness for a scrapbooking trend I can fully appreciate.

As a tidy bonus Nadine gave me some sweet chipboard from Treasured Memories last week (or so...) so I had some new (FREE!) goodies to play with. You can see what some of the other ladies on the Design Team created here.

If you have questions about products or techniques used on any of my layouts, feel free to ask!

Spread the love friends.

Dude is my Bestest Best

I missed taking Dude to school on his first day this year. I mean I really missed it. Thank goodness Russel was able to snap some photos and send them to me. My handsome Dude is growing up...

So much so that he completed his first scraobooking layout! Proud Momma Moment over here! Now that he is 8, he gets the "big kids" wristband at the swimming pool. When he came home that day, Russel and I suggested we cut it off right away and we could save it. I told him I could put it in my scrapbook, and he said he would like to make a page. And that we could take an Instax photo of him to include! I didn't know what was making me happier!
He wanted red - of course - so I pulled out some paper and sticker letters from my stash. And then let him choose from all of my embellishments. And I made sure to explain to him the importance of writing at least the date, and why this was important. This page captures so much about him at this age. Swimming every Sunday, printing is much improved, his crazy gap-toothed grin, still loves red.

I think this is my favourite layout ever made...ever.

Today is my birthday...today everything changes...

Busy...busy

I have been super busy lately! School is back in full swing, which means field trips and PAC meetings. The League is also back from the summer break, so there are more meetings, more minutes and more stuff to do there. I've signed up to help with a Worm Bin presentation at a local school next week, in preparation for doing one solo at Kameyosek in October. I've got new blog-stuff on the go, exciting classes I'm doing the prep work for, and lots and lots of ideas for the future!

Here is a layout I did up in response to a Creative Type Challenge! YAY!I love me a scrap-related challenge, don't ya know.
I also love me a messy background! There is so much going on here, I can't even begin to describe...looks like that's another technique post I'm going to be writing up!!

I used a lot of Washi Tape on this layout...here you can see some Hambly and Tim Holtz layered all happily together. And you get a better idea of the layers in the background.

Crafter's Workshop stencils used: Swiss Dot Small, Wonky Circles (Balzer Designs)
Distress Inks: Chipped Sapphire & Scattered Straw
Glimmer Mist: some orange one...I can't remember
The letter stamps are *new 7 Gypsies, and the stars (rub-ons & stickers) are *new Studio Calico

That's all for now peeps. I'm going to get back to enjoying my birthday...

What day is it today?

Sometimes it really sucks to lose time during the holidays. No day is like it was the week before, and with our schedule all out of whack, sometimes you forget what day it is! Poor Lucas is really confused! And this week is usually an "in limbo" week for me. Not quite the new year, but not feeling like December anymore. It's a wonderful, magical, in between time when anything is possible, but you probably won't get anything important actually accomplished...hmmm

So today may or may not be Thursday, but I thought I would post a layout anyways! This is for the Creative Type December Challenge, which was to finish the phrase: "all I want for Christmas is..."
all I want for Christmas is...time
My journaling reads: "All I want for Christmas is time. More time off work. More time with Lucas and R. More time to spend doing what I love. I guess what I really need is time well spent."

Supplies
I used a lot of stuff that I had "hanging around" on my desk. An ATC card from November's swap at the store, feathers and ribbon left over from my Christmas fascinator, some printed packing tape, and the leftovers from some 7Gypsies labels. The background is leftover from a Show and Tell at TM (I get all the unwanted leftovers!)

Special Techniques
The background is "embellished" with some red and orange Glimmer Mist. Don't ask me how I made it look like that...sometimes I just grab cardstock that's laying around and use it to soak up the extra Mist from another project I've got going on. I have a feeling that's what happened here!
I wrote the word "time" on a TM bag with pencil, then "traced" over the letters with my sewing machine. I stitched the ribbon, ATC, and feathers on as well. My sewing machine is the best adhesive money can buy...especially since I've run out of my regular adhesive! And I can't find any staples, and glue stick just won't cut it sometimes!

I'm trying to get some cleaning up done around here (in between Lego breaks), but I hope to be back tomorrow with a special New Year's post!
