Lisa's Challenge Kit #4

Here is the next Challenge....sorry it has taken until today. I had a nice lazy Sunday!!

Your challenge is to use the "Designer Paper Doll" images as your inspiration. You can use the images directly on your page, copy the look of a paper doll, or let them inspire your topic selection (example: favourite dress/shoes/purse etc., an event you got all dressed up for, your "signature style", etc. etc.) You can print them off by first saving them to your computer (right click and save as).

I have 8 kits left (a couple of girls got a "sneak peek" on Saturday!). I will leave them at the store tomorrow and you can pick them up there (or from my house...whichever works best)

And here's the goods!
Challenge is "due" April 19th. Have Fun!

Thanks to Juli for ripping these paper dolls out of a magazine for me!! You ROCK! If yoy can't tell, all the paper dolls are wearing designer clothes...Prada shoes, Versace blouse, etc. If I knew designers I might be able to explain it better, but I don't! So this will have to do! I'll try to do up my layout ASAP so I give you some ideas for your own! If you have any questions, drop me a comment.

Coming Up...

This weekend...

  • I work (duh!)

  • Night out on the town? (Bo Diddly's with peeps from Russ office)

  • Prep for Spring Break classes (I have students...actual little human students! Woot!)

  • Must work out (turkey days cost me two pounds! boo hoo!)

  • Have some pages to finish (some secret and some not!)

  • Earth Hour (Sunday night, 8 to 9 pm TURN YOUR LIGHTS OUT!!)

I have such an exciting life! I can hardly contain my excitement. Exclamation point.

Last night we went and checked out a local playschool (For Lucas in the fall). It was so little and cute! And Lucas had a blast playing with all the toys and checking everything out. It is the same playschool that Russ went to (with some changes mind you!). I still want to see inside the one behind our house...I would love for Lucas to go there because he'll get to know the kids in his neighbourhood and I won't have to drive him to school. I can't wait! Two mornings off per week, GUARANTEED! I might just take up a hobby or something...wait...nevermind!

I also have to start planning for San Diego (by the way V...hoorah on your Vegas trip...sounds like fun! Who are you going with????) So many things to buy (what does one wear to the beach nowadays?). And it's looking like I might not get to go to the Getty Centre like I wanted...it's just too far out of the way. I'll just have to plan an LA trip for myself...or snag the next CHA trip!!

I'll stop boring you now and get back to work. Lucas has not been napping lately, so I might not have much time before I have to go get him out of bed. I'll try to be productive in the meantime so I have something to show for it!

More Reynolds pics

Here are some more pictures from the Reynolds Museum. I didn't get a lot of Lucas...he's too fast and it was way too dark in there.

(with grandpa Heath...)a giant windmill (i just now realized that this photo is sideways!!)
awesome pink Buick...dreamy!
an old commercial from a Drive-In movie...remember those!? (the wiener dances around and does back flips and then eventually jumps into the bun!)

I've got a list a mile long of challenges and pages I want to finish. Wasn't it just a week or so ago that I complaining about not having enough stuff to do? Will someone please tell me to shut up the next time I mention that!?!?!

Scrapping the Music...The Story

"It's true...i was made for you"

I'm still working on my journaling.

Busy Busy

I was so busy today, working on my TM Kit. I think I might squeeze one more page out of my leftovers, and then I'm done. That makes five 6x12 layouts, three 8.5X11 layouts and two other "things". I am very happy with how everything turned out. BUT I can't post anything here until they show up on the TM site, and who knows when that will be. The kit goes live on the 1st (probably...I think), but I'm not sure when our stuff is due.

And here's a random Easter page. Lucas with his Easter basket from Poppa. Used some brand-spankin'-not-available-in-stores Riff Raff Rabbits (me loves alliteration!) And some found items, and leftovers and rad felt Thickers and new Jenni Bowlin, and yummy Hambly...just random Lisa-stuff! Funny story...I didn't have enough paper for my background if I cut the label off, so I left it on and covered it with random papers and VOILA...I love this look. You should try it!

Happy Easter

So we did up next month's Treasured Memories kit, and it is going to be fun! A bunch of us get the whole kit to play with, so there will be lots of good ideas to use once you buy the kit. And you get a huge discount off the retail price of all the goodies in there, so it's worth it to buy, that's for sure. I've already picked my photos and am going to start working on my contribution tonight.

Hope everyone had a good Easter holiday. Lucas really enjoyed the egg hunts at home and at the grand and great-grandparent's houses. My Dad outdid himself yet again, and he had all the big kids running around looking for eggs too!

On Friday we went to the Reynolds Museum just outside of Wetaskiwin, and I totally recommend it if you have a young boy in the house (or if you have a young-at-heart boy as well!) It is full of old cars and tractors, a lot of them having been restored to their former glory. The aviation museum of Canada is a short walk away. Lucas was in heaven! He was so excited, I don't think he knew what to do with himself. I had a blast, as I love museums and old cars! What a combo! This was the first time there for Mom, Heath, and Russ (I've been with school and with dad) so Russel went through really slow, reading all the info and checking out each car. I sat in a car and a tractor or two and took a bunch of photos. I'll try to post more in the next day or two.

This is the ham that Russel cooked for an Easter dinner we went to on Friday night (at some friends from Magna). He was very proud, and he had every right to be...it was delicious!

Type-oh-oh

Sorry about the typo in my second to last post. My challenge kit is due NEXT Saturday, not the Saturday in two days time. I think I gave Veronica a bit of a heart attack there! You still have lots of time to complete the challenge.

We booked our flight and hotel today for our little trip down south. And we sent off our passport applications. Lucas was a very good boy for the camera! And I look like a total hottie in my passport photo, so that made my day a little happier. And since Russ was at home, while Lucas was napping I was able to spend a nice hour and a half in peace at the store looking at all the new yummy stuff! I only spent $10, so I don't even feel guilty about it.

Lisa's Challenge Kit #3

Here is my "submission" for my latest challenge kit...scrap your childhood photos. I've got some pretty awesome ones coming to you in the next couple of days!
I love the new/old Creative Imaginations sticker sheets with all the cool words and sayings on them. But get the big sheet and not the little one...you get something like triple the stickers for 50 cents more!
This is another atypical Lisa layout. Lots of bling and flowers! Somebody must be rubbing off on me! And you can't really tell, but I ripped my transparency...which is a very rad look. You should try it!
NOTE: this was a totally wacky Seibold family tradition back when I was a kid! my grandpa was known to hunt a bit so he had a bunch of deer heads up in his house. my grandma and one of my aunts would take one down, drape a blanket over their backs and pretend to be Rudolph. The piece de resistance was the mandarin orange peels they would drop behind...as reindeer poop of course!! i clearly thought this was a total riot and still laugh about it to this day!

#200

welcome to post #200! here's a layout I did up at work on Saturday. i used stickles and bling cardstock! what is wrong with me!!
This is Lucas with my new Norwex mop. He even tried to use it on the carpet when he spilled some of his granola (aka "granoga")!

Remember your challenge kit is "due" Saturday. I'll try to have the next one out by early next week. I'm still in the process of picking paper, etc. It will hopefully be another fun one. I'm also working on my page for the current challenge, and will be done in time to post it with the rest of yours!!
the new Sassafrass paper and stickers are in the store...and can you say RAWKIN AWESOME! I am love ooh ooh. I put a bunch of that and the new Love Elsie in my cubby and will have to go through it to see what I desperately need and what I only desperately desire and buy accordingly!

Challenges...

OLW: Find (due mar21...this weekend! better get going!)
Scrapjacked: a really nice and simple layout by Janine Langer (due mar26)
Scrapmojo: will be announced on the 20th (due mar30)
Category Stories: "if I had a million dollars..." (due mar31)
Scrapping the Music: Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away" (due mar21...i think they are weekly challenges. they are also doing a DT call)

I see that Lisa submitted one for Category Stories (you go girl!), and if I get my butt in gear I may get a couple more done before the deadlines.

We are going to San Diego in June...how exciting! Russ' brother is running a marathon down there for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada and he wants some familiar faces to catch him at the finish line (and carry him home!!). We are planning to stay for a week, and get some site seeing in. Plus, my favourite-of-all-time Adrienne L. lives there! Hazaa! I promise there is no stalking in my itinerary!

P.S. Stupid PC Financial mastercard...I am so mad at them right now. I sent a cheque over a month ago for the Feb bill and it never gets deposited! So I get charged interest and my next bill is even more giant. Since I can't figure out what went wrong and assume that they just never got my cheque, I send another one for the total amount of my next bill plus a little bit to cover any more interest they decide to charge me. when I check my account balances this morning I can't figure out why I have $0 in my chequeing and way not enough in my savings. Turns out they cashed BOTH CHEQUES within 2 days of each other! One a month late! Argh! So now I have a $1200 credit on my MC. Stupid stupid stupid. They should credit me for my interest or something, since they obviously got my cheque and it shouldn't be my fault that it took them a month to do something about it.

2 posts to go for #200

here's a pic of how I spent my Saturday night. not at Girls Night Out (which looks so cool!), or at home scrapping (Paula's cats put an end to any of those plans I might have had!), or working out (even though I packed up my stinky shoes, workout gear, weights and good intentions!) but with the cutest new baby! Thanks Paula and Andrew!
i might scrapbook a little tonight. i finished reading my third book in as many days (good old Jennifer Weiner) and am feeling a little bit more inspired with a chunk of new Blog challenges up, and lots of printed photos!
did everyone enjoy their St. Patrick's Day? I had completely forgotten about it until I caught a glimpse of a parade on the noon news. And I wasn't wearing any green.

One Little Word is Find

Finding Thomas

journaling reads: (focus) today, after your nap, you decided you needed your trains, after months without them. now they're faves again! ("I think they're downstairs!")

Lately I've been seeing a lot of pages that are set up like this...photo(s) surrounded by tags poking out here and there. here is my take on it. it completely suits my random style! even if i don't like tags (made my own with 7G stamps)

staff kit

this one totally threw me for a loop...and I didn't think it would! I was totally ready to use a different pic, and different inspiration and the whole works, but it just didn't work. And I couldn't make it work, no matter what I tried. So I slept on it (not literally...my husband thinks I'm crazy enough as it is!), brought a crap-load of supplies upstairs, spred them out on my son's little table and went to work. And voila. I think it turned out not too bad! I love that new Hambly, and the colours weren't perfect for my watermelon pic, but I don't even care! Plus, I think it looks better in person. Thanks for the challenge Anam!
Journaling: March 13th 2008. For $3.97 at Superstore I bought myself a little bit of spring! Can't beat that!

HELLO...STFU

I just found the total Lisa challenge site!! They are after my own heart!!

Scrapping the Music

For those of you who know me, I am in love with using song lyrics/titles on my layouts. And this blog is all about that! Woot and yahoo and what not!

best day ever...Category Stories

Here is my first Category Stories challenge...completed! This page took me FOREVER to finish (and remember forever for me is a couple extra hours!) And somewhere along the line I made a personal challenge to only use paper elements (and sticker letters of course!). Everything else that I tried on the page just didn't gel. I love my little date stamp circles on the left...I want to put those everywhere!
And remember, since my scanner does weird things to my pages, all the orange things are actually yellow! Journaling reads: everyday I get to spend with you is the best day ever. (and "you make my heart feel happy") The little doodle person is from a Treehouse show...she is totally the Japanese equivalent to Dora...teaching kids the words for tree and thank you in Japanese! Plus she is so cute with her funny hair and her goofy Koala bear side kick! I think I saw a pink mini-elephant, so I'm going to try and find the show again so I can get them in to my doodle book! This is my latest brilliant idea. My art journal has become a place for me to jot down page ideas, things Lucas did/said and fun doodles I come across. I have a couple of pages worth that I am dying to try out!
Today Lucas is in a very cuddly mood. He just sat on my lap this morning and watched TV. And when he wanted to play with his trucks, he would bring them in close and lay himself over my legs so he wouldn't have to leave me! It was very adorable. (plus we had two more successful potty training episodes...following a bunch of unsuccessful ones, but I think we're finally getting the hang of it!)

inspiraiton...and a hint!

For those of you who can't wait to get started on lisa's challenge kit #3 (and for those of you who have already!) here's sneak peek of the next challenge (#4 for those of you keeping track!).

have a good thursday (i totally woke up this morning and was all excited because it was Friday then realized slowly that it was actually thursday...i have so much trouble with the darn time change!)

Lisa's Challenge Kit #3

there are no more kits available... everyone who posted comments up to and including Paula will get a kit. I'll drop them off at the store today (hopefully...depending on if Lucas ever gets to sleep) and you can pick them up from the girls there.

thanks again, and sorry to those of you who missed out. I will be doing more kits up next month

"DUDE!!"

so I was driving around town today, delivering my Norwex orders and not only did it remind me why i don't like to drive Downtown (ack!), but it also reminded why I love the people of Downtown Edmonton. I was stopped at a red light behind a giant truck/bus and I looked out my window and saw this total dude strolling down the street. And I literally mean strolling, with giant steps too big for his average stature. He was so playing up the dude factor I actually shouted "dude" in the car and was totally in hysterics for a couple of blocks.

He was wearing brown jeans, too short probably cause of his nice big bum (not sure how else I can put that!), tan cowboy boots, a brown bomber-style jacket and big headphones, and was carrying a plastic grocery bag. He had a total spaghetti-western-moustache and the biggest sideburns I have ever seen in my whole life! But they were trimmed really short, like his hair, so he looked so awesome and crazy and rad. Like a cowboy-hippie-rig pig-yuppie DUDE.

I am a total people watcher and this guy made my drive seem less crazy! Totally made my day!

These are the photos I took after Lucas put two rolls of TP in the toilet and tried to flush, and then ran off looking all guilty! He wanted pizza and I wasn't getting it to him fast enough so he was punishing me I guess. I had to punish him (on the time out chair of course), but I had a hard time not laughing my butt off as I was doing it! Love ya Sweet Bug

Lisa's Challenge Kit #3

Just leave a comment here if you want in. There are only 8 kits available again this time. I'm going to try and get more out next month, as long as I have enough embellies.
Thanks for playing!
(P.S. Kit is "due" Saturday March 29th, which gives you about 2 weeks. The challenge is to scrapbook your "little girl" photos, i.e. pics of you when you were a little girl! If you don't have any pics, tell the story of why, or steal somebody else's!! Or just *gasp* do a layout with no photo!)
>>Juli>>do you have any more of these Elle woodgrain thingys to use for your own kit? Just wondering, so I could maybe use one you gave me to do up an inspirational layout?? Let me know...I love these little guys by the way!

Scrapjacked

Here is my scrapjacked entry. Some random photos of me making faces at my camera. The little lady on the left is a doodle and her wings I found at Memories & More in the clearance bins. I should have bought them all! The journaling is taken from lyrics off the juno soundtrack. Tonnes of inspiration there. ("if I stay in one place I'll lose my mind I'm a pretty impossible lady to be with.")

almost forgot about this one

I did this layout ages ago for Juli's staff kit and then never scanned it and totally forgot about it, then took a photo and forgot about that too! Here goes!

I love Marilyn Monroe. She was a rad lady! I yoinked these photos from blogs and other places online. The big metal butterfly wing is from a wind chime that is now missing both of its wings! The other one will probably find a place in some other project! And I love Kara's little lady right there in the middle! LOVE IT!

Lisa's Challenge Kit #2

Juli

Veronica

Nadine

Lisa

Still some left to be done (you know who you are!) and find the pic I took of KC's. Thanks for playing along! I think they all look great! (The challenge was to scrapbook something you love!)

my latest...

Finally! A layout! And I promise I'll be getting to my challenge kit one of these days! I have an idea, it's just taking longer to process and figure out.
This layout is for the ScrapMojo challenge. My Dr. Seuss inspired rhyme goes: oh the places you'll go when the sun starts to glow, and there's grass left to mow, and you're out of the snow.
It's a picture of one of Lucas trucks in the backyard after that dump of snow we got back in February. On one of his other smaller trucks, I painted the wheels orange and then ran them across the page. It looks kind of like rick rack! I even used an old Frances Meyer sticker! But don't worry, I'm not de-evolving back to my old school roots! Did you see Hambly came out with some border stickers! Hazaa!
Anam put together the next month's staff kit...hot pink and lime green. Awesome! And some new Hambly paper came in (only a couple of designs, with matching transparencies) and I only bought one transparency! Good for me! I am so way over budget this month (and it's only the 11th), and since there was a problem with my MC last month (they never got my cheque) my bank account is laughing at me! I'll have to just wait until May until I can buy anything other than adhesive. That just means my "holds" bag will be overflowing!
Will work on my Scrapjacked layout now that Lucas is 'leeping (he still doesn't say his Ss all the time) and will probably post it when I'm done.
'sup.

"let's all go to the lobby"

now i have to watch this movie (as if i didn't have enough reasons already) because if there is a challenge blog out there, I want in!!

Inspired by Amelie

out of touch

I have so been out of it lately! last week was my "sleepy week" so I got a total of nothing done. I did manage to slam out a pretty awesome canvas that I'm doing as a class at TM coming up, but even that was a strain on my creative resources.

I got an honourable mention on my newest fave challenge site: ScrapMojo. For my "i have a dream" layout. Woot for me! Their current challenge to take inspiration from Dr. Seuss. Rad!

I started an art journal. Picked up a totally wicked giant sketch pad from DeSerres (for cheap too!) and have already "decorated" a couple of the pages. I have wanted to do this for a long time, but have never been inspired enough to get it going. So we'll try it out and see how it goes. If nothing else, I have a nice book to do some writing in now!

My next challenge will be out in the next couple of days. Sorry to all the ladies who have been playing along. My sleepy week gets in the way of everything, and I never end up getting anything important or stupid done! But I promise my butt is in high gear this week 'cause I've got some catching up to do! Plus I went and spent way too much money at TM this week so I have lots of goodies to play with! Have you seen the new Jenni Bowlin? Pinch me I must be dreaming! And the new American Crafts was so rad I actually bought some paper. What the!?!? Now I just have to find some pics and use it up baby! Oh yeah!

Tuesday, March 04, 2008

I love new stuff

So TM got a crap-load of awesome CHA goodies today. Jenni Bowlin, American Crafts, new Bazzill cardstock (chipboard and brads). I bought $30 worth (and that's with my discount!) of Jenni Bowlin and I didn't even crack the surface of all the cool stuff she has. And she totally has my colours: TEAL AND RED! I am loving this, but at the same time not because I so should not be spending all my hard earned cash in one place, i.e. the place I earn all that cash! But I've had my fill for a little bit...at least until they get the new AM THICKERS out of the box tonight! And then I'm going to be hurting!!

Anyhoo, here are some layouts I did at the store on Sat. Enjoy!

(this layout will be entitled "give me soup or give me death" once I finish with it. I have to paint some chip and add some journaling. the robot is Riff Raff. and so is the rocket and planet in the layout above.)

And a pic of me and Paula and Kaeden (the baby-shaped blanket), the newest edition to Paula's clan. He's such a cutie!
