Anam's Tagging Challenge

Warning! Blurry photo ahead!

Anam's "challenge" was to complete a page containing 7 unique things about yourself. So here is my take on it. My 7 things are:
1. I used to be a vegetarian
2. I love voting in elections
3. I can do accents
4. I don't like setting goals
5. I have an uncanny memory for recognizing people I've never actually met
6. I love clothes shopping, but am not a snappy dresser
7. I am very forgetful, but never late
Note on #5: I can recognize a person I sat with on the bus once, or attended lectures with me at University, or was a substitute for my class in elementary school. If one day you hear me say: "I know that person from somewhere..." just give me a moment and I'm sure I'll remember from where.
See the original here

My boyfriend George has been keeping me up late

Strombolopolous that is. From "The Hour, with..." I love that show. I love that man. But he's on at 11 o'clock. And as of late I have been so tired, so I want to go to bed early. So I think, I'll just watch a bit of George to see what's going to be on, then go to bed. Except i don't just go to bed. i stay up and watch. And then it's midnight before I can even think about going to bed. AArgh! Which means I'm too tired to get up early and work out, and then when I finally do get up (at 9) I am still so tired. Stupid wonderful George. But his shows are posted on his website, so maybe I'll just have to suck it up and watch him on the small screen!

So today is October 24th, and look at the thermostat in my backyard. It's above 20 degrees (that's Celsius my Americano friends...70 degrees in Fahrenheit-speak.) That's warm. Freakishly warm. There is a warm breeze in the air, and I could probably dust my flip flops off and be comfy cozy wearing them out. One the one hand this makes me happy. One more warm day to enjoy outside before the snow flies. On the other hand, I can't help thinking that global warming is starting to really real it's ugly head. Stupid global warming.

And this is Juli working at the store last weekend. Look at her snazzy sexy new hair. Meow! While Chantel, Lindsay and I were slacking up front, here she is working hard in the back, putting us to shame. Bad Juli. For the results of Juli's labours click here

I apologize to all of you who are checking back for more layouts...none this time. Russ has been busy with work this week, so no time to fix the printer. Hopefully next week I will have a tonne to post because a: the printer will be fixed and b: I'm going to be scrapping at the store on my Friday off so I'll finally get to tackle all those ideas that have been piling up!

More Paintables

How this...

becomes this!!
I don't have a photo for this paper yet, but I do have something fun in mind. This made me remember how much I love to paint!

Love Adrienne

As I'm sure many of you know, I love Adrienne Looman. Well, not LOVE her love her, just love her stuff. She's designing for Hambly this month, and you must check this out! I'm so jealous of how she can work every colour onto a layout (I mean every colour. Like a box of crayons!), and not have it end up looking like spew (or barf for the non-Wayne's Worlders among us). She is crazy hot talent. Word.

http://hamblyscreenprints.typepad.com/photos/adriennelooman/index.html

I am so pumped right now!

Not having any photos sure isn't stopping me! This one will feature a picture of my fave red boots. I am so in love with red and teal right now! I can't get it out of my head. What makes it funny is that back in the day, my best girl Sarah and I were coming up with colour combos that should never happen, and red & teal was one of them!
Scrappers late night snack...no boxes of crackers for this girl!
I'm going to go through my photos, write all the numbers down of ones I want to scrap, and then scrap them! And when I can print them off I will and then they'll just go in my layouts and voila! But this can be dangerous in amateur hands, my friends. Warning and disclaimer here. I am a professional "do-the-page-before-the-photo-er" and I have full confidence that I won't forget or lose a layout (it's been known to happen), or start on other pics and put off finishing these ones. And if I slack, you have my permission to whip me back into shape. Just not with a real whip. I'm not into that. There are so many wedding pics that I want to get to, while they're still fresh in my mind, and I have all the cool paper perfectly picked. And before Chantel gets something newer and cooler in the store that I "have to have" (bet you never thought you'd hear that!)

Thought: Going to Creative Escape would be so cool, BUT I don't think I can decide if I'll have enough money and time and whatnot BY TOMORROW. That's when you need to get in on the registration lottery. Maybe next time...

My wall layout...love the new paintables

If you haven't tried them, you need to! The new paintable paper from Prima's Iron Orchid Design Team (awesome ladies by the way!). Lindsey picked our kit for the wall this month, and I rocked it out of the park! And you can only sort of tell because my photos suck! Oh well... Enjoy!

And all that jazz

Sweet vintage transfers! I got a gem of find from my mom-in-law on Thanksgiving weekend. She was going through a closet and found some woodworking transfers that were her parents. They are kitschy and awesome! This site is already inspiring me to try some new doodles!

That's all for now. I shoud get back to "work" i.e. finishing my layout for the wall. Tootles!

A couple of things:

This is some lady's scrapbooking room! I found the pics on Two Peas. Talk about crazy! She has slat wall!! And I thought I had impossible dreams for a shelf or two!!

And here is a layout I "threw together" tonight. It has been driving me crazy lately, but finally I found some inspiration on two Peas and got it done. I like how it turned out. This is a very old school relative on the Seibold side. We think the photo was taken at a costume party, as he was not a painter by trade. I got to use some new hambly (love it!), a Heidi mask, that gold arrow I told Chantel/Jill I would use months ago. And some old finds as well (the playing card was in an old deck my Grannie found in her attic.)

Speaking of...

...self-portraits, when I took Lucas outside to play this afternoon (after his not-nap) I took about a zillion photos of myself, and might I add I got more than a couple of really good ones. Hopefully Blogger will cooperate tonight and I'll be able to load them! I did get some hair and boob shots (Anam maybe they're good enough for your CJ!!), but not as many as usual!

...blog stalking, I checked out Veronica's and lil Kim's and Talia's and Andi's and I was happy to see new stuff. I was very pleasantly surprised to see new stuff on "the other's" blog too. Kudos Lisa! I love Veronica's (and Andi's) cute skeletons. But don't expect to see my version of them anytime soon. I'm going to wait until Lucas can participate to bring out all the crafty knowledge I learned growing up. (I still have elementary school friends comment on how fun it was to come over to my house and play because we were always making something fun!)

On another note... Here are some things that are making me happy in my scrapping right now:

All the Stampin' Up stamps I'm going to sell and "make money" on and then buy more stuff with!

What I'm working on right now...trying to work on
Me looking all energized after my workout. Boo yah!
Love you Elsie! And my paint paper...totally going to use it on a page!

My paints! i am so into paint right now.

Every time I clean a paintbrush I pretend I'm a painter!
I have pots for everything...my metal things, wood things and paint things!
The memory board Mother gave me. it's not near as full as it used to be

"Sneak peek" of my Kristina Contes page. Just need some lime green felt!

Webbering

I have been very neglectful in my Blog stalking lately, both with people I know and don't know. I check Anam's blog everyday (stupid Anam with the stupid awesome blog), there's always something new there. But I get sidetracked and then I have to get Lucas up from his nap. But not today. Today I am gong to be a good girl and read everyone's latest on their blogs, and maybe find some new ones. Already found this lovely lady. On the HMITM team. Caroline She is nifty snazzy and I love it! She can rock a kit up like there's no tomorrow. If you don't have anything new on your blog, I forgive you! (Paula, I'm talking about you!)

Thought of the day: Have you ever noticed how there are some people who take a perfect self-portrait? I saw Talia's up on her blog just now, and it's really cute. Veronica takes good self-portraits too. I do not. I always either get my hair, my boobs or my huge double chin and nothing else. I have one good one that I sort of like(see above). It doesn't help that I can't just Photoshop those imperfections away. But somehow I don't think I would even if I did own that particular program. I am imperfection, and that's fine by me!

Hey what you doing?

This is so much funnier when Lucas says it. Really high pitched and awesome. And here he is sitting on the dishwasher. Goofy. And playing with the new (loud) digger he got from Auntie Michelle and Uncle Jody.

photos are not going to load ("we are aware of this problem and are currently working on a fix"). But my Anam-jack and my other pics are awesome, you're just going to have to wait. Suck it up Princess!

Here is my lift of Anam's layout (the original) (the photo on the left)

And another page I whipped up last night. I took this photo of all our paint dabbers lined up at Crop for Kids. Journaling reads: at attention. ready to do battle. ten hut.
(updated later...okay my photos loaded. enjoy!)

Crop for Kids

Success?? I think so! Just to see all those ladies crowded around the kit booth grabbing and giggling and excited for the "all kits $10". Trisha looking like she could use a nap, but happy, Chantel looking like she could use a nap, I really needed a nap...you get the picture. All around, it was a fun event and I hope there was lots of dough to give to the Stollery.
Am feeling very inspired to create today, but Lucas is still making noise (why won't he just sleep!?). Maybe i'll take him and go vote, then come home and he'll want to snooze. I sure could use a nap, but I'm not gonna do it. Going to be busy today and not be lazy and eat a box of crackers.

Clean room...no scrapbooking

So I cleaned my scrapbooking space. I made things more easily accessible, organized my supplies, changed things around and have only done one page since! I'm sure it's not because of my clean room, that I have only done one layout. It's probably because I still have no printer. It's also because I had another shitty week. And it's not even that great a layout!

for Elsie

Here are some things that Elsie has given me today:

http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2007/09/17/coolpolaroids.jpg

Lucas in the leaves

the beautiful gold tree just outside our yard.
Lucas' goofy face
Helping Momma with the rake At the park behind our complex
"Momma take digger and go get leaves over there"

I have been taking pictures like mad as of late. I love these random ones of Lucas playing, of Lucas being Lucas. He is such a busy guy, always on the move and always chatting. I got a really good video of Lucas talking about his trains, and naming them and their numbers. In the video I ask him what colour his slide is. he says red, but it's actually blue. Once the camera was off he turned to me and said: "the slide is not red it's blue." It was totally awesome!!

For a video of Lucas (and Momma) playing in the leaves check out ...and other song titles...

Christmas is coming early!

But not early enough! I personally cannot wait to get my hands on:

And many more!!

So Chantel. When are these boxes set to arrive???

the cat's out of the bag

What bag? Who's cat?

I submitted Nadine's page to the Goodie Box. So it's up now. For the world to see. Here's the link: The Goodie Gallery I was just too excited. And it's a good thing I got it up when I did (re: printer troubles.) Man, I'm just hitting y'all over the head with that one. I promise to shut up now. Stupid printer. Okay...now.

do you have a life list?

That's one of those lists on which you list all of things you want to accomplish before you die. This was the topic of Ali's latest e-zine. I think I'm going to start a list. I've never been one for setting goals and what not, but I thought this one would be fun and would give me something to do until I get a new printer.

Also, I challenge you to incorporate your list or list-making into a scrapbooking project. It can be a mini-book, an altered journal, a layout, whatever you like. I'll put mine together and then post it when I am free of technical problems.

In the meantime, here are some photos from our Light the Night walk. Thanks again to everyone who supported us.

Goodnight Sweet Prince

I am sad to inform you that my printer has died. We've been through some good times together. Scanning, and copying. Printing photos and 20 page anthropology papers. I will miss you hp sc 2110 all-in-one. You were a good friend. The good news is that now I get a new printer. Finally. I mean, we've had this guy since we first moved out 6 years ago. Russ has already been online looking at Epsons. There are some pretty fancy printers out there.

I have an extra ink cartridge lying around, so anyone with the same printer or one that takes an HP tricolour cartridge #57, I've got one! $10 and it's yours. Drop me a line.

This means, though, that I won't be posting layouts for the time being. And I also won't be printing any photos, so I might not even be doing any layouts. Aack!! But not to worry...I'll be back! And better than ever! Maybe I'll start posting other peoples layouts, just for some extra inspiration for you. Maybe give you some ideas you hadn't thought of. I was very proud to see Paula's entry in the last Goodie Box challenge. For those of you with working printers and photos to scrapbook, I dare you to enter a challenge this month. The Goodie Box is a good one: Fall or Halloween pics. One Little Word is "gone" and I totally have a great idea for it, if only I had a printer! Scrapjacked is a little oddball for most of you, but it might help you get out of a creative rut to try something completely different. How much is too much? is looking for Earth Wind Water and Fire. And The Journaler's Junction is looking for journaling on a curve.

If any of you ever stumble across a challenge site that I might be interested in, let me know, either in the Comments of a post or by email. "Pete" knows I love a challenge.

Thank You Anam

Introduction: Russ and I watched this funny show the other night about a couple of geek roommates. One of them doesn't understand sarcasm and can't pick it up when the other roommate is employing it. He suggested the use of a sarcasm sign. If I had one, I would be using it after the title.

Now on to the post...

I was webbering just now, on Anam's blog, as I am prone to do, and I clicked on one of her handy icons and it took me through cyber-land to this awesome website called: "Altered Pencil Lines." If any of you are familiar with another of Anam's websites I introduced to you a while back called Pencil Lines, you will know how it works. For those of you who didn't follow my helpful links, Pencil Lines is a website that offers a sketch and asks for submissions inspired by it. Altered Pencil Lines takes that sketch a step further. And applies it to art in any other form. There is jewellery, art journals, bags, you name it. And there are some gorgeous works of art there! You should check it out. Especially you Andi, as I know how you and mostly your Mom are into the altered items!

http://www.alteredpencillines.com/

I also came across another neat-o website thanks to my Blogger Dashboard. Here is the blurb provided:

Shortly after Blogger launched photo uploading two years ago, one of our engineers whipped up a web page that would show us the pictures that were being uploaded in real time. The result was fun, often beautiful, but above all, compelling. We couldn’t stop watching. Over the years we’ve kept this photo scroller as part of the Blogger offices, on a monitor or projector, as an interesting (distracting?) slideshow, and a reminder of the diversity and vivaciousness of Blogger blogs. The fame of the scroller spread within Google, until one day we were asked, “so, when are you launching this?”“Um...,” we replied. But we knew a good idea when we heard one. We got our UI people to come up with buttons and fadey effects and we got our engineers to make the whole thing fast and robust. A bit of work later, and now we can share it with all of you

Blogger Play will show you a never-ending stream of images that were just uploaded to public Blogger blogs. You can click the image to be taken directly to the blog post it was uploaded to, or click “show info” to see an overlay with the post title, a snippet of the body, and some profile information about the blogger who uploaded it.

At any rate, I took a preview and it actually is pretty neat-o. There are of course the random family shots (at a petting Zoo, at Disney Land, camping, etc.), but there are also some taken from within a fantasy game, a couple of Britney Spears, one of Posh Spice and hubby getting out of their car, Mr. Sulu, etc. it's cool to just have going in the background. Plus you can save the photos or check out the blogs to which they were uploaded. It would be weird to see one of my scrapbook pages there!

http://play.blogger.com/

I'm working on my birthday photos right now. Ugh. I haven't even touched Lucas' yet. If Lisa "the other" or Veronica have any good ones from when we were all at the store and there was cupcakes please send them my way. Or Facebook them.

I can't wait for Mom to send me some wedding pics so I can scrap some nice things for a change!

I was going to give you a sneak peek of the page I did for Nadine, but none of the pics I took of the page turned out. So you'll just have to wait! Is the suspense killing you? Not yet? It will.

everything will be fine

Until we meet again

Last post before bed. I just had to get this one in.

Not so fast there mister

So I didn't get any shots of Lucas out in the big wide world. By the time he got up (late again), it was too close to dinner to go out. So we waited until after dinner, and for those of you who have a window you would know that it was raining after dinner. So we went to the park over by my Dad's place thinking he wouldn't last long in the cold and the wet. We were wrong. With his mittens and his rain coat, he was good to go and had fun all by himself in the playground. Thankfully, tonight was bath-night so all the grit and grime was washed away.

Plus, the batteries were dead for the camera.

But I did finish this gem of a page for the wall at work. This is a photo of my Aunt Roxanne at my cousins wedding on Saturday. She was sitting right in front of me. And the sun was coming in at just the right angle. her whole face was lit up! I have another really cool picture of my Auntie Lori's boot and purse!

Lucky Lisa got to play with her Mom's fancy SLR for the afternoon, as Mom was busy on Lucas patrol. Man do I want me one of those!! I got some really snazzy, artsy shots. But this one isn't one of them. And trust my trusty little digital to die just after the ceremony!

Photo Swapp

So, some girls and I are jamming through a photo swap right now. I got Nadine's pics today, and I'm done the page. And did I mention it's awesome!?!? But no peeking or posting just yet. I'm going to wait until Nadine has at least seen it in person before I share it with the world!

P.S. Her photos totally make me want to run outside with my camera (if I could find it) and take a bunch of pictures of "the fall" happening out-of-doors right now. And I hear Lucas, so maybe look here tomorrow for some new pages.

P.P.S. Last week was a crappy week for me. I was low emotionally and physically and mentally. And then I realized what was missing in my life to make me feel that way...I wasn't scrapbooking. So now I have another reason to add to the mantra "Why I scrapbook:" to stay sane.
