Project Life...I Quit You?!

Project Life - October
I originally started this post on July 27, 2012Change of tune Update written in yellow.

I just can't go on. Living like this. (being overly dramatic again...geez Louise!)

It was becoming more of a stressor than something I was looking forward to completing every week.

Like I was completing it every week...HA HA HA! HA HA HA!

And so I will try to finish up the photos and memorabilia that I have collected (back in May I believe) and then call it done. (It was May, and I haven't done that yet)

I will keep adding scrapbooking layouts to the binder, and maybe the odd brochure or ticket stub. (that was easy)
Project Life - October

I have learned a couple of things about this adventure (that are still applicable):
1. You need to be organized. That is the last thing that I am! (can I get an Amen!)
2. You need to have a dedicated Project Life Work Area. Or at the least a Project Life Bag of Stuff. Everything in one place would have made it much easier. (I'm working on that)
3. It was NOT a time saver for me. I spend way less time scrapbooking layouts than doing PL every week.
4. It's like keeping a diary. I hate diaries. (I do!)
5. Don't try to put everything in, and don't make it too fancy. I was guilty of the former (for sure...eh, maybe not really). And just adding pictures to page protectors without a little fancy defeats the point of scrapbooking for me.
6. I am really no good with long-term projects like this. I already knew this about myself, but maybe my memories of PL this year will stay with me and I'll learn to avoid similar projects in the future. (Or just push through and make it work! Defeatist-Cynical Lisa coming in to play again...)

Project Life - October
I (still) have a love/hate relationship with this project, concept, lifestyle. And trust me when I tell you that Project Life changes how you look at life, and how you relate and react to life. Sometimes it feels all-consuming, and the pressure to have something for every week - something interesting, something tangible - is full on annoying.

I love how it looks, and I love how it is perfectly (Lisa, really?) designed and intended to document the everyday moments of life. Like, all my coffee runs (and what the ladies order!) and things like lazy Sundays and my favourite shoes. Y'know...the important stuff! HA!

But I hate the time it takes. And I hate the space it consumes. I am going to try and finish out the year on a high note and then devise a new plan for next year! Because if I don't, Project Life might just be the death of me.

Drama Drama Drama!

Project Life - October
For those of you non-scrappers out there who have no idea what I'm talking about, that's okay! It's a weird scrapper thing...don't worry your little heads about it. I'll be back tomorrow (aka Monday) with a non-scrapbook post! Will you? Be back tomorrow (aka Monday), that is...

For the scrapbookers: If you want to know anything specific about the spreads, just ask. Pretty standard Lisa-stuff going on here. Click on the photos to be whisked away to their Flickr locations where I have typed a fair novella under each photo. More details there, my friends! Enjoy, and have at her!

    1. You're moving! Wow! Good luck with all of that.

Project Life is still a giant pain in my ass, but I'm trying to just take it one day/one week at a time. And put absolutely no pressure on myself! So far so good!

  3. I think you already know my feelings on this very sore subject... I dearly loved the completed pages but maaaan, this thing makes me swear and sweat and then I get anxious and gahhhhh! Definitely agree with you on needing to be super organized, dedicate a space to it (with the kitchen now (almost) done, I do have space to leave the album on the bar so I'm thinking about making a box with inserts and just working on it as I walk by?), and did I mention stay organized?!

I'm liking your size approach - thinking I may have to knock mine down a size - that would probably help with the anxiety! Hah.

I have to say though, I feel more motivated to keep going on mine now that I have a friend (you! :)) who feels the exact same way - you kind of give me a push every time I see that you've finished up a spread!

Alright, done with the novel of a comment now!

P.S. I've convinced my sister to start this monstrosity next year. She's gonna loooooove it (she's more anxious then I am! Oooops)

    1. My latest strategy is to keep all of my supplies tucked away in my new bookshelves. I've got one box for stamps & ink, one for embellishments, one box of washi and a paper holder. I keep a notebook out at all times, where I can jot down what Instagrams I took, and what I did that day. I'm feeling way more confident about this than I did when I started in January!

  4. You crazy girl! I laughed when I read your title:) Your pages here are amazing Lisa - but then everything you do is! So... I think you already know what I think of it all... yes I love it and I don't sweat it anymore when I'm behind. I hope to have a post done on how I have been able to catch up. Honestly, the only issue I have is I am not making many layouts outside of PL, but at the same time... I have all these photos that I KNOW I wouldn't have taken if I wasn't doing PL! and the circle goes around... and around :>)

  6. I can only imagine how long this takes. I'm lucky if I get a card made in a day. You will treasure this, you know. And it's so LISA!

    1. Thanks Hun! I know I will treasure it down the road. But I will not appreciate all the hair I am pulling out because of it! HA!

You make more than a card in a day...I can't even keep up with all the loveliness you post to your blog!
