Adventure at the Royal Alberta Museum

The original Royal Alberta Museum closed 3 years ago in order to pack up and move to its new location, which just opened at the end of 2018. We finally got to the new Museum this month on a really chilly day. There was a lot to read - of course - a great combination of new and old items, and many lovely historical Alberta treasures.

My forever favourite at the Museum is the giant sloth. I took a lot of selfies in front of that skeleton. My new favourite is this map of Alberta that shows all of the First Nations in the province. I stood here for a long-time. It was super emotional, thinking of all the people - and pain - that those names and dots represented. There is one group of Nehiyawak-Haudenosaunee just north of town!

I learned that mastodons and mammoths are totally different animals, and bison like to get scritches. Ha!

I love museums!
The last time we were at the Museum was for the goodbye party in 2015 before they closed up shop for the new building. I wrote about it here for my 2015 December Daily.
In 2013 we visited the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller.
Portland's Children's Museum (2010) was loads of fun.
Lucas used to love to go to the Reynolds Alberta Museum when he was little...all those tractors to sit in!
All of my adventure posts are here.
