Home Plates
Am feeling inspired to tackle some mini home improvement projects this month (if I have the time...oh heavens...)
Wanted:
- headboard
- mantle
I figure I can just pick up some unwanted scraps of wood, paint them, hang them, and call it a day. I do have slightly more ambitious designs for the headboard, including some sort of fabric "upholstery"...yikes, just typing the word sends the DIY part of my brain into spasms!
I bought an afghan at Value Village the other day in the colours I want for my bedroom...but am not sure if I'm jumping on some sort of trend and will regret the choice later. We shall see. I'm thinking turquoise, grey, burgundy to match a painting from Kelly Rae Roberts I want to hang in there. This one actually...
Dangit...
How hard is it to sew a duvet cover?
In terms of the mantle, really I just want something deeper than what I currently have. You can tell the mantle was an afterthought to this particular fireplace...it looks like somebody just grabbed some scrap wood, nailed it on and stained it to match. And it's something like 4inches deep, which just isn't enough when it comes to all the stuff I would like to display there.
But I don't want the new-to-me mantle to be too expensive, because our ultimate plans are to get rid of the fireplace all together and reclaim that lost corner of our living room.
Jeepers.
I finally changed out my Halloween decor sort of. I need to be re-inspired and do something new and fabulous on said mantle. I might have to start digging in my Christmas decor boxes...yikes...it's still too early for that around my house.
And don't even get me started on my bathroom re-do. We have been way too busy/tired to do anything more.
And now I am already moving on to different things...I have been thinking about kitchen stuff as well. This all just goes into and imaginary inspiration folder (hey...maybe I should actually start one of those...)
acrylic word
Darryl has bought stuff for TM from this place. They have some great MDF and acrylic cut-outs. Putting yellow in my kitchen would mean either meshing it with the red that is already in there, or getting rid of the red altogether. Which would not bode well for all the red boxes I have above the cupboards for extra storage. I guess if I get new cupboards I won't need these boxes up there and can use them some place else. There we go!
one day...

(sorry this was such a lame-o post...gosh that's two in a row! I didn't have anything scheduled for today, and I'm at work without access to my own pics. Tomorrow is a day off, and the start of Lucas' Christmas Countdown Calendar..."Advent" is too religious for me and I love alliteration! So I promise for a more exciting post then!! And I might even have an actual DIY for you on Friday...gasp!)

It's called "Side by Side" and I bought the print because the girls reminded me of myself and Amy (my lil sis). The colours are so beautiful and vibrant. But this would mean a complete re-do of what I already have in there...the duvet cover would have to go, as would all the art I have in there. I could try to make the navy curtains work...
