Anybody want a...

iPod holder/cell phone holder/cool little felt pocket thingy...?

I made this for my ipod Touch, but it's a little bit too big. So I'm headed back to the drawing board, but I don't want to waste my "guinea pigs" so-to-speak. It measures about 3 inches by 4 inches (closed). It's made from brown felt, stitched together with embroidery floss. The top flap folds down and is held in place by a felt strip. There is no extra padding inside. The colours are much more vibrant than the picture shows. Anybody who wants it can have it...just leave a comment here.

So in reading the IKEA catalogue everyday for the past three days, I have started thinking about sideboards again. I just haven't been able to find anything vintage that makes me happy. I want something that will take up the whole wall, and not cost me a fortune! And that's where IKEA comes in! I hate to buy something new, but I really need something for that wall...and yesterday I was sure I had it! The Besta system is pretty cool, and comes in a bunch of colours with a bunch of door options. It wasn't perfect (the height was off, and the doors really big), but it was the best price and the best option I've found so far.

So Russ & I went on a fact-finding mission last night. He wasn't 100% keen on it, so he kept wandering around while I watched Lucas. And then he found it...as if by magic! Something not in the catalogue. Something I totally walked right past the other day. Something from a line I have been in love with ever since I started shopping at IKEA.

Expedit. They have this new little Expedit storage cube. And it is perfect! I can put legs on it, and get doors if I want or just use baskets. At only $60 per unit, my three unit requirement won't break the bank. In fact, it comes in hundreds of dollars lower than my cheapest option before! I am beyond excited! My long and painful search is over. And I promise no mind-changing and no second-guessing. This is it!

I also think I'm closer to figuring out what to do with my fireplace...a little paint and a couple of rad chairs...boo yah! It's going to take forever, but it will be worth it when it's all done!

I also put my DIY skills to use yesterday and installed a cute little bucket shelf thing over top of Lucas' table in the living room. It's meant for storing cutlery, but it works just as well for all his crayons and paintbrushes. Hopefully this will help him put his own toys away.

P.S. If any of you girls reading this have never used a power drill, you're missing out!

Here is the quote book I made on Saturday. KC made this perler (sp?) bead album for me ages ago, and I never had quite the right idea for it. So I grabbed all my brown and green embellishments and took them to work, and went to work! All the quotes I grabbed from Kelly Rae Roberts book that Naomi lent me (I'm almost done girl...just going to photocopy some of the pages at work on Friday and then you can have it back!)

Sorry the pics are different sizes...I started uploading them big, then I realized how many pics there are, so I changed to a smaller size. All of the backgrounds are pretty much just me making a mess with coloured ink, practically empty Glimmer Mist bottles (really forces you to get creative just getting the stuff out!) and paint.

Check you later...and thanks for looking. I had lots of fun making this...plus I used some supplies that had been gathering dust on my desk! Check back later in the week (or next week) for some freebies...I bought the top piece for my Clip-It-Up and am planning some major reorganizing of my scrapping space. I might also use this as an excuse to get back into the kit-making enterprise! Woot!

Later,

P.S. I deleted the final page of the album by accident...but you get the idea!

  3. Hey friend,

No worries on the book, I know I'll get it back :)

Cookie dough....I'm good for a chocolate macademia nut bucket. I'll bring you money on Saturday (are you at the store?) I haven't been to TM in ages...it's quite sad really.

Happy you found your shelf unit.... a new organizational piece is always so exciting!!
