Honesty in 2014

Just when I think I am not going to choose a Word to guide my year, one finds me instead.

I had been thinking casually about it, as one does after reading about other's choices for the year. I threw out a bunch of words, but none seemed quite right. None seemed to fit.

And then this word squirreled its way out of the cloud, snuggled right up beside me and make itself at home like it owned the place. And I enjoyed its presence, and I saw its potential, and I said goodbye to those pretenders and welcomed “Honesty” into my 2014.

I use my “One Little Word” as a reminder and as a focal point throughout the year. Last year Brave served me very well, and I would like to think that I did it proud. It was a tough year for me, and I really needed the reminder to be brave in all things. Even a little bit brave is better than nothing.

I am not planning anything special to commemorate, or celebrate my word. I want to make something simple & lovely to put on the bulletin board in my studio and on my “wall” at work, but that’s it. It will probably be gold, sparkly, or gold and sparkly. I am not doing a mini album, or art journal, or project specifically for my word, but if I know anything about OLW, I know that it always seems to find a way into whatever you're working on, whether you notice it or not.

I am excited to see where this year and this word takes me. I already have an idea of why Honesty chose me, but I am anticipating a lot more. I don't think I have even scratched the surface of its potential.

Thanks always to those who inspire me with their words and their Word, specifically Nadine and Elise.

Did you choose a "Little Word" to guide your year? I would love for you to share it below!

Great word!! I wrote my intentions for the year, but I haven't given much thought to what my word would be. I would probably say "balance" if you put my on the spot. I could REALLY use a better balance between work and play, indoors and outdoors, healthy food and junk, downtime and party time...
Balance. I like it. It works. Thanks for inspiring me to even give this some thought.

Good luck with your word this year. oxoxo
