Bypass this

I am still at 204. There is good and bad to this. Good: I haven't gained any weight. Bad: Hello...I weigh 204 pounds.

My brother's girlfriend is going to Seattle to get gastric bypass surgery. The wait list (weight list...snicker) is 4 years here. I didn't think she was that big, but what do I know. I have yet to be convince of the merits of this surgery. Mainly because I think that until we as a society address the reason behind why people (need to) get the surgery, we will always be one step behind our weight and not attacking it head on. Eliminate all Big Macs, Frito Lays, chocolate bars (gulp), and make sure our young people know that it is more fun and worthwhile to go outside and run around than play PS2 for 2 hours straight, all the while listening to your ipod and watching a DVD on your mini, portable player. Until we do that, there will always be a waiting list for surgery, and fad diets making their creators millions of dollars. Do we really want that to be our legacy to the world? And don't even get me started on global warming!!!

  1. I agree completely but I still don't think I could go without chocolate or chips (at times).
