Dude: "Yay! I get to spend time with mom on this beautiful, oh wait, not so beautiful night."

Me: "Wait, it is beautiful out tonight!"

Dude: "I know. I was just being sarcastic. You know what incinerate means? It means to burn! Yeah, burn really really hot."

Dad: "Where did you learn that word?"

Dude: "From an episode of Johnny Test."

Sometimes it's really hard being a mom. I get little to no peace and quiet on those days I need that the most. I find myself shouting and getting exasperated quite easily some days. I must remember to spend time teaching him and being with him and yet find time to get all my crap done as well! But when I really focus on listening to his stories, and let him show me every new part he has recently add to his Lego Francesco, and sit with him in the kitchen while he makes a mess does science experiments, I feel a strange sense of calm and purpose and love. He is an awesome little person. And for some strange reason, he loves me a lot.

The snuggles, hugs, and kisses are the other perks. Yep...I like those.

Also, he's the only person that can make me giggle like that...

Currently a little bit obsessed with this song right here. And by "a little bit" I mean I sing the last couple of lines all the time (even out in public...gasp!) and I am even considering making totally made some art for my living room featuring said lyrics.

On home ownership...and camping

I forgot to post my LR DIY on Wednesday night like I promised. I got sidetracked by the stupid arse hockey game and didn't actually want to be within hearing distance of the talking-about-the-game-after-the-game idiocy. So I went and hid in my room and got some work done on another crafty thing. I'm just realizing that we have been in our home for about 5 years, and we'll probably only be there for another 6, so I should really get my butt in gear and start/finish some of these grand renovations I have planned!

So have I mentioned we're going camping this weekend...have you seen the weather? I just wanted to extend a giant apology to those living in the Edmonton area because I totally bought a rain coat. I think I jinxed things. My bad!

Do you think my family would mind if Russ and I sneaked away to attend a sci-fi & comic convention in Calgary, say, for two days or so?? Yeah...I thought so. But The Guild is going to be there! And Jonathan Frakes, and William Shatner, and Summer Glau, and Mike Mignola!!! My goodness...I need to take a breath.

So far my morning has been going crap-tacular. So I'm reading these funny-smart comics and drinking my tea slowly. Maybe I'll type up some meeting minutes later, and write myself a proof of employment letter so we can renew our mortgage. It's so fun being an adult. I'm waving my sarcasm sign there, in case you couldn't tell...
