I have recently moved a chair into Dude's room for bedtime story purposes. You see, I used to lay in bed with him while we read, and while that is a lovely snuggly bonding experience, I would usually end up falling asleep or staying way too long and then not getting any of my own stuff done in the evenings. Grumble. Hence the chair. It is just comfortable enough to hang out in for awhile, but not too comfy that I will fall asleep!
The other night (a couple of weeks ago now) I was feeling kind of crummy, both physically (too much chocolate after a big lunch) and emotionally. Dude is a sensitive kid, and picked up on it. He was being very nice and polite, and actually asked me to read his book to him instead of demanding it, as per his usual routine.
When I was done reading a couple of chapters, and got up to give him a kiss and hug before I left, he asked me if I would like to snuggle with him because he thought it would make me feel better.
And so I snuggled up next to him. And he proceed to take off my glasses and then touch my eyebrows and my face. And then he started touching his eyebrows, like he was comparing what they felt like to mine.
Oh Dude...you know just what will make me smile.
