I Love Elsie

New stuff on Elsie's Etsy! All Yummy, of course! And inspiring! I just read that she became a painter when she heard her current beau's music for the first time! Isn't that interesting!

I would say that I was born a painter, but that as part of my tv-watching childhood, the connection between my brain and my painting-hand was damaged and I can no longer get my ideas out without having them look like radiation victims. So I scrapbook instead! And "pretend-paint" with my mixed-media canvases and stuff.

Speaking of scrapbooking...here is the latest.

Pic of Lucas and Russ at the park on the long weekend in May. I know I know...the quote is from Spiderman, but there is a comic-book Batman on the page. It's still rad! I used one of the pages V posted that she was going to scraplift as my inspiration. Thanks V!

And these pics are from a couple of weeks before we left on vacation. We were having the in-laws over and so I cleaned the lawn chairs and set them out. Lucas went and made himself, and his cars comfy! I'm not too keen on the flowers, but it was late, and I glued them on with the heavy-duty stuff so they aren't coming off! Maybe I'll stick another button in the centre and call it done.

My new favourite way to scrapbook is to have a bag full of random supplies and paper at hand (leftover stuff from a kit that was sitting out, or a baggie of supplies from the last crop...doesn't matter) and just limit yourself to use what you have in front of you! Yes, you get some simple pages, but you can always add stuff later (if you must). And it forces you to be a bit more creative with what you do have. I'll have to use this "technique" while I'm organizing my scrap-space. This is also a good technique to use when you have "too many supplies" and want to use some up before heading out to the store again to indulge yourself. Plus I feel much better environment-wise, as I am getting the opportunity to use up some of the rad papers I hoard and not waste them!

I got my first QTea kit in the mail while we were away, and am just now starting to play with it. Kind of fun, not a tonne of stuff, but it's all unique and non-scrapbooking little bitties. I'll have to see what the next kit offers!

And a cute pic of Lucas all painted up from yesterday's messy play!
