more home art

here are some pieces I finished today. and they are even hanging up in their current homes in my home! wow! I actually saw this one through from start to finish! woot!

the first is a little guy I whipped up to put in my kitchen. I alcohol ink-ed the knife (just one out of my drawer...I have 2 sets of "silver"ware in my house.), did Juli's technique on the butterfly (with Ranger's Red Pepper alcohol ink and Forever Red perfect pearls) and used some garbage I found at TM (the leftovers from some pop-dots). Then filled in some of the holes with shiny buttons, added some Heidi Swapp chipboard numbers and hung it up with some ribbon I got in my Goodie Box last year. The background is a page out of a Prima chipboard album covered in Ranger Colour Wash (Red Pepper and Butterscotch) and some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Daffodil). It was just a fun thing to try while I waited for other projects to dry! Plus I wanted to see what the colour washes and the glimmer mist looked like together.

This next one is something I have been "planning" for a couple of months now, but never had just the right stuff to put on it. The magazine Anam gave me inspired me to alcohol ink some cutlery, and it kind of took off from there.

Products used:

  • Ranger Alcohol inks: Stonewash and Lettuce

  • Paints: teal, black and ivory craft paint from Michaels

  • Riff Raff Designs chipboard: house and "smoke" (the smoke is the leftover piece from the large swirls that I cut up the other day!)

  • Making Memories tiny letters

  • Some wire I bought years ago for some stupid reason or other

  • The wooden hanger is from DeSerres (for those in E-town, it's the big craft store that opened up in WEM last year...and you can buy some rad art and scrapbooking supplies there for a good price! that's where I buy all my canvases now)

  • I found a nice quote about "home" in one of my books, printed it out on the computer to finish it off.

I finished another cool little piece on the weekend, but I'm going to try and find a frame for it before I take a picture. It actually fits the theme of Nadine's first challenge over at Delite Designs. Lucky me!
