scrapping stuff

This is an older layout...from the last Riff Raff release. But I like it! I used black crackle paint and some Glimmer Mist...my fave technique!!

I just posted this week's Techneek of the Week. Lots of alcohol ink goodness. You should check it out!! And there's a layout too, that's pretty rad, if I do say so myself.
Remember to post a comment here for the chance to win some rad Riff Raff goodies for yourself!

Honest to Blog!

mmmm...Japanese Fern...Delish!

My house still smells like paint. I love it! But I have to finish putting my art back up on the wall. It looks empty!

Russ likes the colour. He was sneaky and read my blog so he knew what he was in for when he walked in the door tonight! It looks so rad. And it's funny; the colour we don't agree on is the plain one that I picked to go in the rest of the house! He wanted to know where else I was going to put the green!

Plus he's not sure about the laminate sample I brought home, so we're going to have to do some more searching for that one.

The chandelier I really want wasn't at Home Depot, and online says it's back ordered so there will be minimal stock whenever it is available again...argh! It's all fancy with jewels and stuff. Totally crazy! I love it! But we'll see. I'm really into this renovate thing all of a sudden. I think the purple wall and gack carpet finally made me go crazy!

Lucas really loves the colour and told me he wants the rest of the house painted green as well! He said: Momma you need to paint 20 more walls." That's his latest thing: "20 more" He said he wanted 20 more cookies, and 20 more pickles, and 20 more everything!

This afternoon, when I was making dinner in the oven, he tells me that playschool has an oven. And that you put stuff in it! Too adorable for words really! And then he had a little fit, and wasn't so adorable anymore!!

that's one doodle that can't be undid Home Skillet!

I painted my wall! And boy howdy is it ever GREEN! You know the Chintz & Co. wall? Well, now it's in my dining room! Russ is totally going to freak!!

It was a lot of work: I don't like rollers so I did the whole wall with a brush. And with Lucas "helping" it was a very stressful first coat. But after the little guy went for his nap, I went at it again and it took much less time.

It covered the ugly purple pretty well, but I still might have to do a third coat, just to make sure. I don't think I'm going to put it anywhere else...it is way too heavy a colour for my little entryway and hallway. But I am definitely excited for the other colours I picked: Garlic Clove for the rest of the DR/LR, and Feather Gold(??) for the kitchen. But I think next time I'll buy a drop cloth and use a roller! And send Lucas somewhere for the day!!

I really don't feel like doing any scrapping today...but I have to get my Techneek done for the blog. I learned on the weekend that people actually read it!! Plus I've got two Riff Raff projects to finish. Have I mentioned that I am very excited about the September shapes? I'm so excited that I want to share my good fortune with you..

If you leave a comment here between now and the first of September, I'll enter your name to win a mini prize pack with my fave fave shapes in it! Yes you just read right...IT'S A CONTEST PEOPLE! But there is no skill required...not even a skill testing question. All you need to do is click that little Comments link below, type something, anything, and you've got a chance to win something! Woot!!

FINALLY!!

I have picked a colour...and I bought it right away so I couldn't change my mind!! It's for sure going in my dining room to cover up the ugly purple wall. And I'm not sure if I want it down the hall and in the entry way, where there is more purple. I'll start on the DR and see what happens from there! Russ is going to freak! The paint guy actually gave a little disclaimer: "this is going to look crazy bright when it's wet but will darken as it dries." Like I care!! I want bright!! And the lady waiting for her paint next to me told me I was brave, and you might as well go for it because you only live once! It is very bright, but I picked a soft yellow/cream for the rest of the walls and a nice golden yellow for my kitchen. Very Kara!!

And I've also been pricing out laminate flooring. I even went so far as to bring home a sample today! Yikes! It will be expensive, mostly because I want someone to install it for me...get it right the first time eh!? But I picked the cheapest one I could find that I actually liked! If I had all the money in the world, it would be no problem: bamboo all the way. But I don't have all the money in the world. I only have one little (big for me) paycheque from Dr. R that is being put towards this little project. I can't stand my carpet anymore, and I figure I'll do the whole main floor and then I'll be happy! Yippee!

I can't wait to see what all my art looks like on this bright green wall!

Lucas is now registered in playschool...Russ went last night. And I get to be "Class Coordinator" whatever that means. And I'm thinking about going to the soccer registration tonight, but I might wait until Russ and I can discuss it a little more. I had to write 13 cheques for Playschool. THIRTEEN!! There's a volunteer deposit, and registration fees, and all the months have their own cheque, and on and on. Come on people...it's only playschool! But Lucas is totally looking forward to it. He was talking about it all day today! It's super cute!

I am so busy with scrapbooking lately, but as per usual, none of it is just for me! I am slowly hacking away at my Sept. to do list, but there still seems to be a lot left. Dang it. I am still waiting for my Elsie art journal...am also very excited about this. About equally excited as about my new paint (yay!!) I've been working on a canvas this week, for me, that's bright green and teal and will have a big monster on it! I'm still trying to figure out what the monster is going to look like, but when I'm finished I'll post pics here! My DR table and my scrap space are messy, but I have actually been working as opposed to before when they were just dumping grounds for junk and more junk. I haven't been able to print photos lately, so I guess I wouldn't be scrapbooking for myself even if I had the time. Oh well. I always seem to get more done in the fall and winter, so there's plenty of time to "catch up".

P.S. Kings of Leon's Sex is on Fire is a killer song! I am loving so much of the new music that is coming out! But buying music is just not on my budget list right now! Anybody got any suggestions on some good "free" music sites??

I guess that's all...for now!

Too many birthdays...

not enough room in my pants for anymore cake!! tonight was the last one for awhile. Let's recap:
August 14: Grandma Connie
August 19: Lucas
August 23: Uncle Jimmy
August 25: Trudy
August 27: Dad

And my father-in-law's is at the beginning of August, which follows Mom's and Nicki's and Uncle Marty's which come after Amy's @ the beginning of July. I think I am going to have a salad on my birthday!!

Here are some pics of Lucas' b-day at Dad's a couple of weekends ago. He totally gets blowing out the candles and can kind of open presents (he will rip off tiny bits of wrapping paper and pass each piece to the person sitting next to him!!), but he only eats a bite of cake before he's distracted and wants to go play. Plus he never makes it passed the first present because he just wants to play with it!! Unless it's clothes!!!

We'll see when I actually get around to scrapbooking these guys...don't hold your breath!

TGIF

I was so ready to sleep the whole day away! But I got up, got dressed, got my poor sad son off to Grandma's and here I am. I have mail, and referrals, and letters, and phone calls, so so many phone calls, to deal with today, I need a little web-break! I actually worked on some San Diego pictures last night...but the layouts are for the new Riff Raff release so I can't share them just yet! I'm having a hard time scrapbooking lately...like I just don't have the right product/right paper/right something to inspire me and get my mojo flowing. I know I spend money on scrapbooking (less as of late!), but at the end of the day I wonder where it all goes!!

Some of it I lose in my house, and then I find it and am happy again! And sometimes I forget I have things...I "cleaned up" a while back and rearranged where some things are and now I can't find all of those things I moved! Oops! Serves me right for trying to get organized!!

But the new Riff Raff shapes are fun, and I am actually looking forward to scrapbooking with them this month! The September TM kit I'm not a huge fan of, so that was a real struggle...brown, beige, browny-beige!! Aack! Give me some colour!!! Juli and I are going to put together the next one and it will be so RAD!! As long as we get some new stuff coming in! Chantel called a bunch of our suppliers the other day, and politely asked them where the heck-crap all our new stuff was! Most of them shipped the next day!! HA!! So next week should be a busy one in the store...hopefully. I think we're going to have to put Juli on life-support until American Crafts gets here! I don't think she'll last another week!

On another note, my family and I are doing the Light the Night walk again this year, raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. So far I have raised $20 (thanks Nadine)...but my goal is $250. There's only a little difference to be made up for!! You can donate in person, or online (lightthenight.ca then search by my name) and I will take ANYTHING. Any amount is good, even if it's only $2.00 I will take your pocket change. I will take your couch change. It all adds up in the end! I've already surpassed my first goal of $250, so I am going to try and double that!!

Sorry no pics today...I am at work ya know!!!

I LOVE YOU RUSSEL!

Have I mentioned lately that I love my husband?? Because I do!! And it's not just because he brought me back some rad gifts from Las Vegas! But that doesn't hurt his case! I got some Dark M&Ms, a couple of cool pins (one is even quite tacky, so I love it!) and the piece de resistance, a bust of Michelangelo's David. It's a total "chotchke" and it's wonderful! I already put it up on my bookshelf at home. Yay!

And he loves my haircut!! And he was going to take a picture of his food when he was in Vegas!!!

don't go breaking my heart...

My sweet sweet Lucas. How I love him...poor little guy! I've been working 4 days a week for the past two weeks (next week too, then only two days, then back to one day per week). And it is finally starting to take its toll on Lucas. Yesterday was Momma's day home, so we slept in, and went for a bike ride and played in the yard and went to a couple of playgrounds. And then he went to Grandma's house when I went to my friend's wedding shower. He got to stay up late and he had a total blast! He fell asleep about 10 seconds after I put him into bed last night!

But this morning was work again, and he was not happy that he had to leave. He kept saying he just wanted to stay home and sleep ("leep") in his own warm bed. I took him downstairs and he followed me back upstairs when I got him his blanket and Baby and he was so not happy to see Grandma Connie. He was probably doing okay as soon as they got him to their house, but it was so hard to watch him this morning and listen to him cry...he did not want to leave home today. Poor little guy. And it totally through me off this morning...I had already slept in, had only minutes to get ready before Grandma came by, and then I missed my turn leaving the house so I had to take a detour to get back on track. Man oh man!!

Russ is back from Vegas tomorrow...lucky bastard. He was down there for a course, staying at the Mandalay Bay, which I'm told is a totally rad hotel with a beach and an aquarium and everything!! Unfortunately it is at the very end of the strip, far away from the rest of the action. I got three texts from him the day he left. One with his flight info, one telling me he was about to leave Vancouver and the last one telling me he had just got in his hotel room and that it was "fkn hot". And nothing since. He did try calling me on Wednesday, but I wasn't home from work yet. Oops...sorry hun! I do miss him, but it is also nice not having to cook dinner, and being able to fall asleep in bed with the tv on!!

Today I am finally getting my hair cut...it has been over a year since my last one! Ack! And this week, as if it knows its days are numbered, my hair has been a total pain in the neck (pun intended! tee hee!) I am going to stop at TM before I go and get a "before" picture. Then I'm going back after to get an "after" picture. I will post these guys for all to see! I am so excited! Bye Bye long hair!!!

some of my own stuff

gasp! Yes I do scarpbook for myself nowadays! In between RRDT and TMDT stuff, I actually get things done that are my own! But not a lot of stuff...
Just this one little page so far. It's 9x9, with a picture I've had laying around for ages. I think it looks a little too "red white and blue" but it's still cute!

And some of of my Riff Raff stuff is up on the site, and the TM kit pages will probably go up sometime soon...and that's it for me! I'm already working on the next TM kit, and the TM staff kit so I will be busy with that for the time being. I've been playing around with Veronica's canvas...it's just not right yet. And I would be working on Jill's but she can't make up her mind what she wants!!

...think you can dance??

So I had it totally wrong. I thought for sure Katee would win. FOR SURE. She is just so "Buck." But it wasn't Katee. It was her "long-time partner" Joshua who took the crown (and the money, and the movie deal). Once Katee had been eliminated, and it was down to Twitch and Joshua, I put all my eggs in to the Twitch basket. And I was so wrong...again! I don't understand. But I guess this vote (60 million cast...Yikes!!) came from the same people who got rid of Will...another genius!

All things said and done, it was a good show last night. Except for the Jonas Brothers performance...I guess since I am not a 10 - 16 year old girl, I just don't understand. They got nothing on the New Kids!! That Cirque de Soleil number was beyond rad! And I am in love with those "poppers" that did battle on the stage! The fellow who "won" is in an IKEA commercial! With a lady popper!! Rad.

The judge Lil C totally reminds me of my buddy Scotty D. They talk the same, and kind of even look the same (except for the skin colour thing) and have the same quiet genius about them!

I know I should be doing a post about scrapbooking, or something, but I have been reading this week, and not scrapbooking (bad girl) so I have nothing to show! Tonight I am working a LNC at the store, so hopefully I will get some things done, including my Techneek of the Week, which I was supposed to have completed and posted already! Ack!!

Mighty Mouse is on his way!!

So I totally just typed up a nice post, and Blogger went and lost it. Pooh! SO I am going to have to find it, then re-post...later...my lunch break is over!
